More 352 from the other night and he will do ok. He's got to have more courage away from home.

Do that, with only Jack going, a centre half and attacking midfielder and we will be play offs at Christmas.

so how do you see it panning out Chelts in the next few months?

On the ownership then Xia will quietly shuffle out of the door stage left inside a year and these will take it on full time.

Jack will definitely be sold this summer but for an appropriate amount. Chester MIGHT go as well. There will be money available for transfers and Bruce is under no illusion that he needs to make use of the kids.

If no obvious promotion challenge is apparent by the back end of this year he will get binned in favour of a progressive younger manager who will have remit to sort out the playing style and get us up the following season.

If we do go up then that is when the cheque books open but in a more sustainable way than our boom or bust efforts of recent times I.e. you bring in some experienced players but try to hoover up the best young talent for nurturing.

Bruce won't make it to Christmas is my guess but that is solely because I don't rate him to do the job. If he gets us challenging then he won't get the push.

Great, so more wishy-washy decision making? The mere minimum i'd expect from them is to make a definite decision on the manager. Either back the guy long term or dump him. Him limping along with no support till christmas on the off-chance we are doing well is total madness

Cheers Chelts that all sounds sensible to me, although fingers crossed Chester

It’s not wishy washy it’s pragmatic. There’s two weeks until the season starts.

Start like last season and he won't make it past August.

bollocks is it. The main thing a manager needs to be successful is to have the full backing of the owners whether you agree or not. We've had enough managers with half-hearted support from on high to realise that. Lerner made an art-form of it.

How are they in a position to make a sensible decision before the season starts and before the window closes? If this had happened two months ago I would have got rid. There simply isn’t time to do it now, and make the necessary changes to make it work.

It is 2 weeks until the season and will cost us £7m to change it. That isn't the current priority.

Don't agree. I'd rather have the problems now than keep a manager who's waiting for the axe to fall. It's a straightforward decision to make if you rate the manager. If they do, then i'm not happy but at least it sets our stall out for the next season or so.. How the hell can you plan long term if you're not convinced by the manager?

No guarentee they'd pick the right man especially at short notice. RDM had the full backing of Xia after all but that quickly changed due to poor results and so we wasted two months of that season going back to square one.

SB is fully capable of getting wins at this level so while I'm not expecting a top 2 push, I'd like to think we'd be on the fringes of top 6 as the season progresses.

Bruce isn't getting potted and we aren't bringing in Henry. People need to understand that we aren't going gung ho (He) with a spending splurge.

What about Ho (He) - will he hang around?

nah sorry. i'd rather have a chris smith or clampy in the boardroom than a "give him to the end of the season" bod. At least there is some conviction behind the decision.

Well I’d imagine they’re thinking that Bruce can keep us in promotion contention, with some investment in the playing squad, so they’re taking a pragmatic approach. Long-term planning only really matters once we’ve got promoted, anything up to that point is a short one year plan.

I’m not saying I think Bruce deserves the job, but in the circumstances I can see why the decision is sensible.

Totally disagree
Long term planning should start now no matter what division we are in

Well even if that is the case it would seem rushed to build a long-term plan and do everything that needs doing within two weeks, so I understand why prioritisation sits outside replacing the manager.
