Probably because with it potentially being a very bad indeed scenario, the manager is actually going to be more important than ever. Season starts in 2 months, even if we're in administration and all the first team squad have gone and we only have the U23s left, we'll still need a manager.

It still is a fantastic opportunity for someone coming in.

The Mirror reckon Bruce is staying with the club.

I'm not sure i'd want Bruce in charge of the youth team if worse comes to worse. Don't think he trusts them. best deal for us would be for a club to approach us for permission to speak to him. No pay-off needed and possibly a bit of compensation towards the money pit.

I reckon they're right. He's still contracted and being the decent sort he is, he'll no doubt try his best during our hour of need. Plus, when we do get taken over he'll get a tidy pay off.

People forget he got some good displays from Green, brought  Davis through and has done more with Jack than the last 4 managers combined. Bruce is not going to make us a better team to compete at the top, but he will galvanise the squad he has and keep us up, which is more important for stability.

He walked out on Hull as he saw no investment coming and new it would be a struggle , why would this be any different ..he likely to lose most of the squad and have nothing to buy players..he came to Villa as was a big club with aim of promotion and building on that in the PL. Is he really going to hang around to battle relegation in the championship....

If anything this money issue will leave him looking the victim and other clubs in the league will look at employing him

Who the manager is doesn't seem such a pressing concern at the moment, does it?

Almost irrelevant.

If we're here for the season start, then who will be the manager will be more important than ever. Normality in a way.I think when the dust settles and the angst is over, we'll still be here.

Nope, it has massively dropped off the radar in terms of importance.

GO - we can’t afford his pay off
STAY - we can’t afford his wages

don’t know which one prevails here

Because we are Aston Villa, he's never getting a bigger job. Stay and keep us in the top half after all of this and he walks into his next job on more money.

I don't think he trusted them to 'get us there or thereabouts' last season which was the remit. And rightly so.

Now the goalposts have moved enormously and there will be absolutely no expectation of getting up next season there will be less fear in playing them i'm sure. And rightly so.
