I just think that seeing as no-one as a clue what is going on, what will happen or the kind of state we are in, being managerless would just add to the mess.

That's a pretty big assumption that no-one has a clue though, I doubt that's the case, especially if we have already made arrangements with Trevor Birch as has been suggested by a few sources that are fairly credible.  Aside from that even if it is true this week At some point soon we're going to have to decide between those 2 choices, we either get extra investment or we don't, if it's still not there in the days before pre-season then we have to assume it's not coming and plan around that.

We're in a tremendous position to attract an ambitious, progressive new manager if we were to get rid of Bruce.

Even Pardew would have to think long and hard about taking up the job.

Still, he did fuck up a *lot*. The gameplan against Fulham has cost us, apart from anything else, the best youth product this club's produced in a generation. Whenever I see Jack somewhere else I'm going to remember Bruce's awful, cowardly, timid, shat-pants approach.

Round, Bruce & Wyness are all thick as thieves - if one goes, you can wager that the others will too.  Today's board meeting had better come up with a fooking plan otherwise we had better brace ourselves for a stinker of a season.
If they don’t come up with a plan involving a lot of cash very soon there won’t be another season.

Or maybe Bruce was key to Grealish turning his career around? He effectively built our team around Grealish once he earned his place.

Steve Bruce, and indeed RDM, are a long way down the list of people to blame. The entire board should be fired for starters.

Sure, but just as Doug was ultimately to blame for the club failing to build on anything promising during his time, so JG is still responsible for his ultra-negativity on Cup final day in 2000. Same situation here - even had the finances been tickety-boo we'd have probably had to have sold Jack. Bruce takes a lot of the blame for our failure to get promoted - leaving the club fucked following that failure is on Xia.

I'm really struggling to care about the bruce situation right now, it feels too much like the old titanic deckchairs idiom.

Yup, agree. Forget any positives Bruce undoubtedly has, we are going to need someone far cheaper.

Thinking that myself. We need a young, ambitious manager with no managerial reputation to worry about who is able to manage a young side and has more than one tactical string to his bow.

and you think, with the club on the brink of supposed financial ruin we're going to be thinking about hiring a new manger and sorting out severance packages for the current one and all his staff ???

come on now

Why is anyone talking about or even concerned with Bruce at a time like this?

Because in the absolute middle of a shit storm, when the first team is sold, the ground is sold and rented back, the owner has an embargo placed on him etc we should not forget that we are still a football team with a fantastic youth set up. The right man with the right philosophy could work a miracle and we could all be laughing about this next season waiting for the Premier League fixtures to come out. There is a chance that if his hand is forced, Bruce could be that man and with everything falling to pieces around him he could prove to be the most important manager in our history.

There are far more pressing issues than who will be in the managers office next year. If we're 12 points off from the jump it won't matter if Ronald McDonald is our manager. The foundation of the club is eroding and we're worried about the easiest person to sack.

I understand your concern to keep the football side of things churning, but right now the game on the grass is the least of our worries.
