Would you fall on your sword and walk away from a pay off?

If i knew the expectation when i took the job, and i didn't need the money and it wouldn't affect my future chances of employment then i'd like to think so. I'd certainly offer my resignation.
And very laudable, what about knowing that if you resign then the back room staff you bought with you will also be out of work?

didn't he walk out on Hull ?

He's left a lot of clubs if it suited him.

He's on holiday and the season only ended a week ago. I wouldn't overly trust an article with zero sources quoted and thinks the play off final was over 2 weeks ago.

Depends what prompted the article really. SB could've phoned Percy and encouraged him to put an article out like that to put pressure on the club to make a decision either way.

Edit: Didn't see who wrote it but saw it was Telegraph and assumed it would be John Percy who is usually pretty accurate with our stuff.

Percy isn't going to put his name to that article, not unless he doesn't want to remain AVFCs journalist of choice.
The articles says ',by Luke Edwards'

Yup, their North-East sports reporter. Make of that what you will.

Not being told of our budget next season is pretty worrying.

Can only think this is a bit of brinksmanship to try to get him to step down.

Ridiculous.

You're worrying about an unquoted article, produced less than 2 weeks after we lose the play off, when the vast majority of football people are on  holiday and are coming up with a hypothesis like that? Really?

At least if he goes now it gives an incoming manager time, the last thing we need is for Bruce to remain and have to be replaced half way through the season.

Not much time. Nothing will happen during the World Cup and once it's finished there'll be less than a month to the start of the season.

Good point, if there is no money who would come but another chancer, we through it all away last season a big gamble that missed.

Who would take it in the current state?

Plenty of people.

Experienced managers who fancy a big club.
Young, ambitious managers on their way up.
Managers of teams lower in the pyramid.

Yep, there wouldn't be any shortage of people wanting a crack at a club like this. Even Leeds manage to find one every four months.

Why shouldn't he carry on? 57 is young for a manager. Bit of an odd post really.

Exactly, man of 57 who clearly doesn’t need to work wants to work :-)

Possibly. Edwards was the only journalist to be given an interview with Bruce regarding how he was coping after the death of his parents.

No chance he’ll be here in August. He’ll walk if he’s not pushed.
