splitting hairs

Not really, you said people could argue he's had over 3 years to get them promoted, which they can't. If we'd won at Wembley no one would have been saying it was because we were lucky to have Grealish and Grabban.

One of my wolves supporting colleagues tells me Nuno joined them a year ago today... he is still in shock at the 12 months they have had. The manager is the most important person in all this, and yes they did have an excellent midfield, but at the start of the season not many would have predicted that very ordinary players would look like world beaters, a well travelled Barry Douglas, Danny Batth, John Ruddy was a bit of liability when they signed him, and they didn't really have a killer striker all season.  Finished 16th or 17th under lambert a year ago to romping the league from November onwards.

I'd suggest that the most important person in Wolves's season was that agent.

How about a pairing of Luis Andre de Pina Cabral e Villas Boas and Wenger?

Arsene Villas?

Remember the fanciful links in the past? Beckenbaur and Kinsman

I'd be happy with the modern day equivalent of Sir Graham - Gareth Southgate perhaps ?

Maybe he is right now but once the Sun and The Mirror have ripped into him during/ post World Cup he maybe interested - unless of course England bring the cup home :)

And you'd be wrong. At every club, it's always the Manager, in Wolves case, which is well documented, Espirito Santo was on their radar for a long time and he arrived, prepared. No "there or there abouts".

Just read that. Brilliant manager. Very depressing if they get him. Doesn't stay long in one place though.

The manager was only there because of Mendes.

Bielsa is nuts. He walked out of Lazio after about three days when they signed a player without his knowledge. He also was sacked after 10 games at Lille for going to Argentina without club's permission. They were also bottom 3 at that point.

Loved watching his Bilbao and Marseille teams though.

More high risk than Nuno but if it all clicks could be a similar outcome e.g. romping the division.

Sometimes manager's are just past it, however great they were at the height of their powers. Nowadays he seems like a bit of a disaster waiting to happen.

Bruce has a rolling contract doesn't he?

I know talk of Smith Brentford but how about Lee Johnson from Bristol City. Young, quite dynamic had a decent first 11 and put up a great fight against man city and league Cup run.

Fair play to him and them this season didn't have the edge and squad ran out of steam but he's got to be a consideration

Nigel Clough did well under circumstances and seems shrewd and resourceful. He understands big club mentality and with right chance would be decent I think.

At a push Gordon Strachan who is experienced and handle players.

So maybe one from
Dean Smith
Lee Johnson
Nigel Clough
Gordon Strachan

Personally I discount Ian Holloway and Nigel Pearson but I sure along with Redknapp, Sherwood and Sol Campbell there names would be mentioned.

Dwight Yorke always fancies it too!

What about Moyes? [hears screaming, heads banging on walls...]  But wait a minute...

The football isn't interesting, but neither was last season mostly.  He would fancy project instead of being a journey man manager.  He did well at Everton, mostly top 10, CL once, the odd Cup final, managing on small budget and making good use of youth players.  He was set up at ManUre [Ferguson knew he would fail and thus make his era look brighter by contrast], Sunderland was a toxic mess [aside: Bruce would be good fit for Sunderland now], did well to get what he did out of an inherited ill-balanced squad at WHFC...

...see not such a bad idea  ;)

Wyness and Round seem old school and traditional to me. That means if they replaced Bruce, Moyes would be type of candidate and someone they know to push forward.

Too much jobs for the boys.
I can see scenario where Bruce stays.. Has poor start then Moyes comes in.

I think Moyes would do better than Bruce but don't want either tbh.

Good suggestion though

Surprisingly naive of you, Mark.

NES wouldn't have been there in the first place without Mendes, and nor would the excellent players they managed to get in. Wolves don't get to go shopping at Atletico Madrid, Monaco and Valencia without some extreme dodginess going on.

Yep, there's no chance the fact they are best mates and Nuno is a client of Mendes had any bearing on him ending up at Wolves ;)
