No way Grealish will be lining up for us next season.  He is the crown jewels bound for the pawnshop.

Disagree. If Grealish isn't here it will be because we get good money for him. I said as much the other day and I'm not alone in this. Mine is guess work, those that share it have far more illumination than I.

I don’t know why people think Jack won’t be here come August. Is it a Brummie thing being naturally pessimistic? He doesn’t want to leave, he has 2yrs on his contract, we need him if we are going to make any impression on this league next season.  The savings for FFP are already being found elsewhere: the 5 loan players are off, JT is off, Gil and Gollini are off, and possibly Elphick too, so the process is under way. Have faith that it will be concluded with Jack still here.

Bruce good bye.
He isn't the right manager to take on this challenge now. He was close and thereabouts by his methods but rather have someone else in who will develop kids and is thrifty in transfer market.

We don't know if he wants to leave or not. Regardless of how much I love the club, i'd be considering my future if I were him.

I think the Doc has readjusted his expectations downwards and will be happy with a solid mid table next year, building up to promotion in a couple of years. That means (ex) ‘promotion specialist Steve’ is no longer the best fit. However, I also think if there isn’t a really good and yet cheap option to replace him, he’ll be expected to cope with a fairly easy remit.

Bruce has a rolling contract doesn't he?

I know talk of Smith Brentford but how about Lee Johnson from Bristol City. Young, quite dynamic had a decent first 11 and put up a great fight against man city and league Cup run.

Fair play to him and them this season didn't have the edge and squad ran out of steam but he's got to be a consideration

Nigel Clough did well under circumstances and seems shrewd and resourceful. He understands big club mentality and with right chance would be decent I think.

At a push Gordon Strachan who is experienced and handle players.

So maybe one from
Dean Smith
Lee Johnson
Nigel Clough
Gordon Strachan

Personally I discount Ian Holloway and Nigel Pearson but I sure along with Redknapp, Sherwood and Sol Campbell there names would be mentioned.

Dwight Yorke always fancies it too!

It could be setting Bruce up to resign?

My questions about Dean Smith are:

He's never won promotion or got close

How much of the Brentford success is down to the club's innovative approach rather than him?

I think so.

But Dr. X wanted Gabby to go on loan to Reading and Gabby said fuck that for a game of soldiers, I am staying put.

SB might argue that he has the contacts to get bargain basement loans from his extensive network, or he may bite the bullet.

We will know shortly.

But he has a rolling contract doesn't he and probably some stipulations /clauses.

Which could mean reduce wage or out the door when fail to meet targets

Trouble with Brucey he doesn't much go with the younger players and avoids unless necessary.

I think Davis only had opportunity due to lack of options and because so good he had to play him

Under Bruce RHM was never given a chance
