Problem with Davis is he's never going to be a regular goalscorer

I like Davis but the reality is he rarely scored, and he did play in 30 games this season.

You don't know that though. You could play him for 15 games next season and he'll get 1 or 2. next season he could hit his stride. He's 20. The point is, you have to give them that time to develop, and that's why some players drop down a few divisions in their early 20's from larger clubs who can't give them that and find their feet because they get that time. Obviously he could turn out to be complete arse as well.

We need a target man if Bruce stays. Its his style of play needs a big fella up top that can find the net.

Lee Harvey Oswald, ideally.

David is just so like Emile heskey. I can't see him ever being a reliable scorer. He was really good for a couple of months though.

As I said to my mate over the weekend, if we are having to rely on the younger players who are already here, I wonder if they will react to him in a positive way as he hasn’t really trusted them so far?

Totally agree, why would Green, Davis or even Bree be willing to bust a gut for Bruce?

There careers I would think. Green has been injured most of the season. Davis didn’t deliver goals wise and Bree has looked average when given the chance. Those three can’t complain really. Some of the other youngsters who have been given zero opportunities so far may have bigger cause to complain

Not a reason to discount Dean Smith but the structure at Brentford - deemed good or bad - must be given consideration.  In their chairman's weird way he has been supported/hindered by a backroom of geeks which do not exist at Villa.  Reading the below, it is inferred that the data analysis has influenced not just transfers but coaching and team talks too.

Now, now, you may not rate him but there's not reason to get abusive and personal. For one thing, if he was like Ivanhoe, Bruce wouldn't have dropped him.

I like Davis but the reality is he rarely scored, and he did play in 30 games this season.

the one up front thing didn't help and his performances tailed of
it didn't help Grabban either and he also tailed off

although Davis is a lot younger and maybe just maybe with a better coach and a more adventurous style he could find the net more often

we have gone down this goal stat road a few times and it's failed

Gestede scored loads of goals in this league and he was the equivalent to a human bollard we bought him and he stopped scoring

M'cormac was supposed to be the best in the division with great goal scoring stats we bought him and he turned to shit

Hoggan bought because he couldn't stop scoring and also had great stats, we bought him and he stopped scoring

Grabban scored a few important goals and is a proper journeyman passed from pillar to post I liked the look of him at times but in the 3 biggest games of his career Boro x2 and Fulham he was no where to be seen and a young Davis would not have done any worse in those particular games

my point is spending millions on these recognised goalscorers that others have developed and we can't get anything out off has been a total failure
maybe we should put our efforts into the ones we already have, support them on and off the pitch and they might just surprise a few people

it might be the only way anyway with out financial restrictions, if Gestede can score a bucket load I'm sure Davis and the others who look better actual footballers could also

Would it help or hinder Smith, for example, being one of us?
