That's such a shit year for the bloke. The fact he's even been at work is amazing.

Agreed, trying to focus when all that is going on around you is a hard thing to deal with.

Some can lose the stress in their job others will struggle, it all depends on the person and the circumstances.

Perhaps when we gain promotion he can dedicate it to them both.

Both my mum's parents went within a few weeks of each other, and I saw how it affected her, so big condolences to Steve.

Ach this is pretty crappy news.  Quite simply, to make sure this is done for Steve, our bozos just have to go out in the next 4 games and make sure the job is done correctly.

Easy peasy.

Poor Steve. Now his Mum has passed away, what a truly awful time he's going through over the past few months.

I'd let his staff take over. Steve needs to be away from football for a while.
That’s sad news. It’s amazing how often that happens partners going within short time of each other.

I would think he most probably will. Calderwood did the pre-match press conference.

SB strikes me as the type who'd rather work through his grief (many people do). Didn't his Dad pass away just before the SHA game? He could've easily taken a few days off but still turned up for the game.

Awful time for him though. Let's hope we can get things together for the play offs at least for him.

Edit: I do wonder if he'l jack the job in end of the season even if we go up. This season for many reasons must've been very draining for him.

Not a chance will he quit at the end of the season. He’s made of sterner stuff than that, and as he said after he took over at Villa, he’d been waiting for a job like this for 20 years.

I think a few people here, including myself have lost parents the last couple of years. No matter where you are in life, whoever you are it's a horrible time. I just wanted to be left alone and talk about it when it suited me. I can't imagine what it's like being in a world where you're scrutinised and criticised openly by people you know and people you don't....I imagine you just want to give up.

RIP Joe and Sheenagh

As a club and fans I hope we rally around him and secure promotion. It would be the best way professionally to see out what has been such a difficult year personally.

I echo these sentiments entirely - puts a lot of things in perspective -  I hope the club support him at this very difficult time
Ps Is the thread title still appropriate, at least until after the season has concluded?
