big wow. win when it doesn't matter. who cares?

The 30,000 who were there tonight probably did.

more fool them. adds insult to injury imo. We don't just play wolves and cardiff to go up

I've been trying to avoid this because it's pedantic in the extreme but whilst you didn't type those exact words there is only one way to read those quotes, where you intended it that way or not doesn't really matter because everyone who reads that will see it as you insulting people who celebrated that victory.  You really should just stop trying to defend yourself here and just own it.

Nah as the person who wrote them i should be in the best position to know what i meant. I was clearly talking about the result in the context of automatic promotion. It didn't matter, it still doesn't. I also think the large majority of the 30,000 there knew it didn't matter., but at no point do i criticise any fan for celebrating a win. The insult to injury line is aimed at the team not the supporters. In fact i say the same on another thread before the game along the lines that it would be typical of us to win against cardiff when we had blown the easier games.

That's a bit like me typing something like 'I think you're a twat'. You then saying 'you called me a twat' and me saying 'I typed it and it's clear that I didn't call you a twat, i said I think you're a twat besides the context was different because somewhere else I said I think your'e a twat too.

anyone who can't embrace a Villa victory, any time, any where, is an incontrovertible twat. And you can colour that anyway you like.

Not at all. I've explained my original posts and the context they were meant in. Indeed, at the time several forumers did understand the context and put a case forward why winning against cardiff did matter with regards to promotion. If you want to willfully misinterpret  my words into "villa fans are fools for celebrating a win" then that fine, its a free country.

What i do object to is people adding or re-arranging words on my original posts to suit their point of view, or indeed blatantly making statements up that i never typed. To me that's the point where it stops being a football discussion and enter the realms of tabloid journalism or twitter

That's just silly, how you intend something doesn't stop other understandings or change the fact that anyone reading that exchange would read it the way I said.  You mention context but it's actually the context that causes the problem because clampy made the context be the fans who watched that single game.  If you'd said something like "Do you think they care about us still being mathematically in the race for 2nd?" and then carried on it would change it massively  but how you've written it reads much more like you criticising people for celebrating the win because 2nd was already gone, which is a very different thing than you seem to have intended.  As I say, it's a misunderstanding, you can either blame other people for not knowing what you meant or you can suck it up and let it go, you've tried the first and it's not working for you so move on.

As i said, my actual words are on this thread and i stand by them. Some people got what i meant, others didn't.  If people believe that's me slagging off villa fan for celebrating a win then that was an interpretation i never meant to convey. If people want to keep hitting me on the head with those words, then by all means do, but please use my actual words rather than claiming i said "villa fans are fools for celebrating a win" or "I wanted us to lose"  or any other such phrase conjured up from their imaginations.

I like a bit of sarcasm, but just for clarity, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP NOW. IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER AND YOU’RE DRIVING US ALL NUTS. Caps lock off, calm down.

Yeah, but how do we know what you really mean by the bit in capitals?

Sickbeggar, when lots of people are pointing out you’re wrong and making a bit of twat of yourself, might be time to accept that you’re very probably wrong and making a bit of a twat of yourself.

I salute you for the use of the wonderfully underused word 'incontrovertible'. ;)

That was a party political broadcast on behalf of the Status Quo.

I don't mind someone being out there stating an opinion even if that opinion is different to the overwhelming majority as long as personal abuse is not used I don't have a problem. I can feel the frustration, that we had the opportunity to be a front runner for automatic promotion and blew it, at a vital part of the season the team underperformed and for me the manager must take some responsibility. I still haven't given up hope as apart from Wolves all teams challenging are pretty even, which I suppose after all the money that has been spent over the last two years is an indictment in itself.

Thats the worry Robbo.
Too many times Bruce has fucked up when results not excuses have been needed.
