Speaking of which (Tuesday) did anybody else think last night that the Villa were playing somewhere and look for a result?

It does feel wrong not to have a midweek game. The best thing about the Championship is that there’s always another match soon.

Yes, to put things right or build on success ASAP

If Villa go up I hope the fast recovery routine is retained at Bodymoor\ Recon.
It’s a secret weapon.

big wow. win when it doesn't matter. who cares?

The 30,000 who were there tonight probably did.

more fool them. adds insult to injury imo. We don't just play wolves and cardiff to go up

I enjoyed it. More fool me. You almost sound gutted we won.

Bruce haters hate it when we win as they are only happy when they are hating on Bruce.  More fool the idiots who call themselves Villa fans who are miserable when we win.

As far as I'm concerned I'll enjoy a Villa victory regardless of who it's against as winning is what Football and sport in general is about. If you don't enjoy victories then you have got to ask yourself whether sport is for you because what is the point in bothering if you don't enjoy it when we win.

Well i'm not going to respond to the the first bit. I left school 30 odd years ago so i suggest you keep it for the playground.

I'm annoyed because we had a great chance to overtake cardiff in April. I predicted they'd fade in these games and that's just what happened - 1 point in 9 in fact. By all means celebrate winning but its a pretty hollow victory in my mind. Beating cardiff so fulham can take advantage is a lot different from beating cardiff so we can take advantage. If we'd managed to get motivated against QPR, Hull, Norwich and bolton instead of saving it for the select bunch of teams above us then we'd quite possibly be looking at a 2 point lead over cardiff this morning and it would have been game on. As it is, people treating it like some sort of moral victory against Mr Anti-football, well no-one will care or remember if we're still in this division come May.
I’m not a “Bruce hater” I’m sure he’s a really nice guy but I don’t like his brand of football and I think he’s without doubt the wrong man to take us forward and always was from the second we hired him. That didn’t mean that I want Villa to lose any game anytime. Last nights moment of brilliance got me running and screaming round the living room like a lunatic and I’ve had a massive smile on my face all day even though I’m leaving the country for 10 days. I kinda see where sickbegger is coming from and respect his right to have an opinion which differs from others on here. No Villa fan whether a Bruce fan or not will ever want us to lose

For as long as I live i'll never see where a villa fan is coming from when they say they don't enjoy a Villa win.

It doesn't matter what league we are in or if it's against the likes of Man Utd or Barca or some lower league team in the cups I will always love a Villa win.  If that ever changes even the smallest amount then I'll know it's time I give up.

For what its worth i never said that. I said the result didn't matter but obviously if certain people with pro-bruce agenda's want to push me slagging off villa fans celebrating a villa win as a narrative, then who am i to stop them.

You said more fool anyone who cared about the Villa winning. If that isn't "slagging off" then please tell me what is.

no i didn't. I said it didn't matter. From memory someone said "for 30,000 it mattered". I then said more fool them. From that statement, to make the grand canyon-like leap that i was slagging off villa fans for celebrating a win is barmy. As is believing all or any of those 30,000 thought beating cardiff meant we were getting promoted. I believe they're a lot more in touch with reality than you give them credit for.

Why is thinking we're going up detached from reality?

You're attempt to dig yourself out of a hole by digging deeper is an unusual technique.

No, I said 30,000 people cared in reply to your 'who cares' comment. You then more or less said they were fools for caring.

I can see the hole you're digging from here.

You've just said that you didn't say something and then you've quoted yourself saying it. Then you speak about something that no-one said. I'd give this one up if I were you.

Are you Tom Fox?

It was pretty bloody clear that you were being a mardy-arse and felt that people were wrong for being happy at a win because it didn't matter. Then a whole number of people said it mattered to them and explained why. Yet you said 'more fool them' which in anyone's language is a pretty clear way of expressing your displeasure at their view.

You're on a losing wicket flailing your bat around at anything that comes your way with no real plan or hope. I'd declare if I were you.

nah. at no point do i say "more fool anyone who cared about the Villa winning", nor did i say i don't enjoy a villa win or any of the other re-writings of my original post by people on here.  You can interpret my words as meaning that, but the fact remains i didn't actually say that.

I've been trying to avoid this because it's pedantic in the extreme but whilst you didn't type those exact words there is only one way to read those quotes, where you intended it that way or not doesn't really matter because everyone who reads that will see it as you insulting people who celebrated that victory.  You really should just stop trying to defend yourself here and just own it.

Nah as the person who wrote them i should be in the best position to know what i meant. I was clearly talking about the result in the context of automatic promotion. It didn't matter, it still doesn't. I also think the large majority of the 30,000 there knew it didn't matter., but at no point do i criticise any fan for celebrating a win. The insult to injury line is aimed at the team not the supporters. In fact i say the same on another thread before the game along the lines that it would be typical of us to win against cardiff when we had blown the easier games.
