Correction, I always thought he'd been done for swallowing some blokes dick in a public lavatory in LA but it turns out he'd only been interfering with himself. I'm not sure there is a general urban term for that but the LA police called it 'commiting a lewd act'.

So which does that make it better for us to get in the play-off semi-finals - Derby or Middlesbrough?

I'm not sure but since it was a lesser offence than I envisaged and old George and Brucey could almost be twins, I'm Bruce In.
Is “Bruceing” the same as cottaging?

Bruce in whatever happens.

The last thing we'll need next season if we're still in the Championship is yet another manager coming in and completely ripping the squad up to build another one with his vision (and with no money as well)

Even Bruce will have to accept we'll have to ship out a few to balance the books and use the youth, which i'm sure he's already thinking about.

IMHO anyway.

Bruce out if we don’t go up.

I agree however if there was a devastating loss in play offs or not even reaching final things may have to be looked at.

I would like to think if Bruce stays up or not and pattern and style of play would be more apparent as well as more tactical play.

Also developing the squad and team whatever happens will be needed and are we to trust Bruce?

I think the problem with Bruce is the same as it ever was. I can’t imagine many supporters think he was appointed because he will tear up the PL if we are promoted so it’s hard to get too passionate about keeping him as a long term Villa manager. However, he’s a ‘promotion specialist’ and if he fails it won’t have been by much so it feels sort of reasonable to be generous and give him another go. I think if we fail, we’ll keep him unless there is someone who looks as good a bet to get us promoted and is more likely to do well in the Prem.

He’s also a decent bloke and let’s not forget Pardew will doubtless be available soon. Hopefully the good Dr knows Villa Park will be littered with season tickets if he appointed him.

Or maybe if Stoke go down we could pinch Lambert to relive the glory days...

I think Bruce is on a rolling contract isn't he, so at least it won't cost a fortune if/when the time comes to bin him off.

Yep. There will be no room for sentiment. Also, whoever comes in will need to work off a very different budget, won't have the luxury of getting in a bunch of high wage older players, will likely have to sell a few, and be committed to our academy to bring through new players. It will be a very different Villa which in some ways is refreshing. If Terry does stay, or if somehow we can get Snodgrass as another example they'll need to take a decent snip in pay.

I was probably not straightforward enough in my original post. My own opinion is that he was a very good manager for a team as shit as Birmingham and he is a decent bloke. I didn't want him when we appointed him because he can serve no useful purpose beyond getting us promoted. Naturally I didn't want him when the performances were poor, I still wasn't convinced when we had a good spell, I'm not convinced now and if we do manage to go up (I don't think we will), I don't think he'd be a very good Prem Manager. I was trying to give a kind of baseline objective assessment. I think if we narrowly miss out on the play offs, Tony will keep him unless he walks, which he may do because he isn't Paul Lambert.

As harsh as it might seem, there could be an argument for him to go even if he gets us up.

Interestingly, Wyness point blankly wouldn't answer that at the AGM tonight in respect of whether Bruce will be here next season. Not that I expected him to but there was no unequivocal "yes he will" response.

I thought the silence at the end of his answer said it all.
My take from that is Bruce is toast unless we go up this season.
