As long as this Agnew guy keeps telling him what to do, he'll be fine. If we'd played like that second half in the first half of the season, promotion would be a certainty. I was thinking  we need to sack him at the end of the season no matter what happens but now I think that maybe he deserves the first half of next season at least.

Snodders praising him up in the press. We have momentum so barring us really fucking it up by finishing 6th and getting embarrassed in the play off semis or finishing outside the top 6 id have him start next season even if we don't go up. I wouldn't have any more confidence in someone else coming in and getting us up next season than I would have in Bruce.

Welcome back to those who disappeared when the going was tough.
You mean when he was shit?

Is the correct response.

I have a feeling this section of the site might be a bit busy later on if we don't turn things around - it's all so Villa-  just when we look like we mean business we mess up against teams we should be burying - overconfident or underestimating the opposition ?
It's gonna be play offs isn't it?

It is the playoffs, some will be happy with that, some won’t, I was never happy with the prospect of the playoffs, & yes if we go up through them, I will be happy.

This is the problem with playing catch up the whole season.
A manager who keeps reverting to type which is caution and timidity in team selections.
It’s the play offs.

I'd blame the senior players more tonight.

They seemed to have the right attitude right after the Wolves game e.g. it means nothing if we didn't win tonight yet failed to prove it on the pitch.

Maybe the legs were aching with two games in 72 hours. Problem there is aren't the two play off semi final games over 3 days, pretty sure it's a quick turnaround from watching them in recent seasons and then a 10 day gap to the final.

To be boringly repetitive in my assessment of Bruce, getting to the playoffs is neither a failure nor a massive success. It's just par, IMO.

It's not a failure for Bruce  due to his obvious limitations however with the sort of money we have spent it's unacceptable.

I would echo that.

I've been clear on my thoughts re Bruce in the past, even in the midst of a very strong run. I'm not going to take advantage of tonight's showing to have a dig, I'd rather say we need to double our support now for the run-in. The verdict seems to be "play-offs now", but even that isn't a given any more. The lads must bounce back at weekend and let's leave the post-mortem for after the season is done and dusted, whether it's promotion via playoffs or looking forward to another 46 league games next year.

Yes WTF was that? Take out a reasonably mobile player out and replace him with no legs player in the last quarter of the game.

Yes, but losing in the play offs will be a failure, winning the play offs will be the massive success.
Getting there is only half the job.

As much as Bruce got it all pretty much right at the weekend he got it almost all pretty much wrong tonight. That’s why we have thus thread because it continues to confirm doubts in his managerial ability.

If he fucks this up now, we won’t have to worry about this thread any more because he’ll be out and we will rebuild. Yet again.

 - we are third top scorers in the league and this appears to be something that we have improved on throughout the season.

We've also conceded the third fewest goals thus far.

Those saying that we should be in the top two (or one) for both, I'd be surprised if we are not come the end of the season. We're doing well.

Tom Mc9? out...   ;)
