He does need to shut the fuck up about the criticism. It’s part and parcel of being at a big club, season 2 in the Championship with high expectations about getting promoted. That’s why he won’t last long term.

Indeed we must enjoy it, and that goes for SB too, I noticed there was another sly dig in his post match comments about it being a difficult place to play for a player if things arn't going well.

Where exactly isn't that the case?

I heard him say Villa Park can be daunting for players when things aren’t going so well. It’s a statement of fact, hardly a sly dig. It’s the same at all big clubs in big stadiums.

That's exactly the point i'm trying to make, its the same at all big clubs. I just didn't see the need for him to say it after such a great win.

I lasted about 20 seconds into his post match interview. The man talks bollocks. Hopefully he'll learn a thing or two from today. If he thinks his genius was behind the result we have a problem. In Agnew we trust (this week). I've never doubted the squad's quality.

Onwards and upwards. On the front foot..about bloody time.

I mean this with the utmost respect and everyone is entitled to their opinion but there are some absolute morons on here at times who want a manager to lose his job after beating a team that could have gone second tonight 5-0.

I find some of the posts very amusing to be honest. Some are trying far too hard.

Basically if Villa are outside the top 6, then the manager, whoever it is, deserves criticism, if we are in the play off spots, that should be the minimum. If we were top of the league the manager would be doing a good job.

Bruce is doing what is the minimum expected. Add in a fine win, and attacking play, well done Steve and everyone connected with the club. Now lets win the next three to four games, keep this going and attitudes will change. Its not being fickle, as some people were saying last night sat by me, it was one game, now lets do it again!!!

Hopefully Agnew is the catalyst this squad needs. Taking the shackles off a bit would be good for us.

Just watched the highlights back on Channel 5 tonight and he was beaking off again about the (much deserved) criticism he got three games ago. Our best performance of the season and that seems to be his first thought.

I saw his comments but they didn't show what he was asked.

His interview with us, apart from talking about social media etc it's a decent interview. He doesn't do himself any favours talking about it imo and he really shouldn't give a toss what any of us think on here or any other online platform, instead by talking about it e comes across as a tad thin skinned.

He touches on it, but not a lot to get worked up over there.

We do live in a world where every word is poured over and scrutinised and often things do get blown out of proportion by fans.  But, football is massively emotive and whilst this isn't really helpful I guess it's understandable.

I think the best time to criticise the manager is after a thumping win. I am not convinced by him but if he can get regular performances like last night out of the players I will laud him as much as anyone. Like many on here I will watch Sunday football if two teams are going at it as that is what I see as the attraction. We really have endured some crap in recent years.
The issue for me is that he has not yet got the team performing with any consistency. I can get over losing or us having an off day, what I cannot bear is seeing very poor performances and disjointed tactics. This has generally been the case since MON left with only a very occasional glimpse of what might be. He also seems to stumble into the best performances.
I honestly thought we might drop into League 1 when we were first relegated and have been happy with the improvement Bruce has bought, but he has to earn his long-term future from hereon. This is not me slagging him off, but yet to be a fervent fan.

Well I said after last Tuesdays Brentford debacle he had two games to save his job. Two wins and he’s now secure. No more poor runs now though, we’re in with a shout of second, don’t bugger it up Steve.

There is no doubt that at Boro he was going to play Jedinak at centre half and Whelan in the middle, which may have changed to the side we put out tonight, that he probably won't admit to either way. However, making out that he picked Jedinak there as some sort of tactical masterplan, when he was self admittedly not going to 2 days before at Boro suggests this result is much more to do with the best of what is available than Steve Bruce turning over a new leaf after 850 games in management. It simply isn't going to happen.

The most important thing he takes from the last 2 games is the learning points. Hogan can be effective with service. Grealish and Hourihane can attack from midfield and make us look a bloody good team. Jedinak is 10 times better than Whelan, and anyone else in the league I would suggest, in the holding midfield role. Elphick deserves to start the next game. Hutton is a better left back than right, Elmo is a better player right back than Hutton is too. We still look slow on the counter and could do with some pace in the window.

Whether he learns any of the lessons the last 2, enforced selections, have taught him remains to be seen. If he has, there is hope of chasing down and taking Derby for 2nd. If he hasn't and we are back in Glentown in 2 weeks, then I despair. He is a stubborn git though, so I am not holding my breath.
Spot on.I would say that Hutton is a better left back than Taylor , De Laet might be a better right back than Elmo and Barney is better back up than Lansbury.Injuries have prevented Grealish and Jedinak from making more appearances but after last night's display against a top 3 side, you have to ask the question why have performances been so turgid and left us, prior to last night, outside the play off positions. Is Snodgrass starting to attack the far post more often,2 similar goals in 2 games ? Agnew influence ?
