Indeed we must enjoy it, and that goes for SB too, I noticed there was another sly dig in his post match comments about it being a difficult place to play for a player if things arn't going well.

Where exactly isn't that the case?

I heard him say Villa Park can be daunting for players when things aren’t going so well. It’s a statement of fact, hardly a sly dig. It’s the same at all big clubs in big stadiums.

It's the same at every club regardless of size.

I mean this with the utmost respect and everyone is entitled to their opinion but there are some absolute morons on here at times who want a manager to lose his job after beating a team that could have gone second tonight 5-0.

Fantastic we won a game comfortably and there is no more deserving this win than all of you who support the team home and away week in week out. The only negative I can find is did injuries force Bruce into a different game plan and would Whelan have been picked if fit.
If this is a new approach from Bruce then great maybe some very expensive players will start to produce.

Whelan may have always been a back-up option to Jedinak for all we know but with his injury problems he#s had this season, there#s not been a chance of seeing whether that was the case or not.

I have been very much in the the camp of sacking Bruce & whilst I still don’t have a great deal of faith in him these two wins should have released the pressure on his job & therefore I hope that stays the situation for the rest of the season.  If we go to the edge of sacking him again we will have blown top 2 for definite.

Big positives were that clearly the squad are still with him, the effort in the last 180 minutes could not be faulted, getting the captain back should hopefully demand that that level of effort is maintained every game till end of season.

Hopefully we won’t now sit back and admire the 5-0, we need to look to replicate it

Back to the lucky versus shit debate from earlier.  Shall we just agree he’s a lucky shit? Does that work?

There is no doubt that at Boro he was going to play Jedinak at centre half and Whelan in the middle, which may have changed to the side we put out tonight, that he probably won't admit to either way. However, making out that he picked Jedinak there as some sort of tactical masterplan, when he was self admittedly not going to 2 days before at Boro suggests this result is much more to do with the best of what is available than Steve Bruce turning over a new leaf after 850 games in management. It simply isn't going to happen.

The most important thing he takes from the last 2 games is the learning points. Hogan can be effective with service. Grealish and Hourihane can attack from midfield and make us look a bloody good team. Jedinak is 10 times better than Whelan, and anyone else in the league I would suggest, in the holding midfield role. Elphick deserves to start the next game. Hutton is a better left back than right, Elmo is a better player right back than Hutton is too. We still look slow on the counter and could do with some pace in the window.

Whether he learns any of the lessons the last 2, enforced selections, have taught him remains to be seen. If he has, there is hope of chasing down and taking Derby for 2nd. If he hasn't and we are back in Glentown in 2 weeks, then I despair. He is a stubborn git though, so I am not holding my breath.

Bristol were shit tonight, then again we were shit till the first goal. Its about margins and luck.

I am not a fan of Mr Bruce, i like him as a guy, but i do not rate as a manager. However, last three games, ive seen a more quickness to our offensive play, and tonight it was almost dead on perfection. I think Agnew may be getting things across more easily than the more defensive coaches were before he arrived.

Hopefully, it continues.

Just watched the highlights back on Channel 5 tonight and he was beaking off again about the (much deserved) criticism he got three games ago. Our best performance of the season and that seems to be his first thought.

For a former centre half who looks like a parachute jump gone wrong, he's awfy, awfy sensitive.

Priority for him should be to hold the side to the sort of standards they set this evening. Stop the bleating about all the other nonsense. We got nowhere near that level for pretty much the whole of December - a period he himself acknowledged was crucial.

The best riposte to his critics is an extended run of good form and promotion.  I told you so's after two good results and one good performance might be viewed as a tad premature.
