Big if, but if the club were thinking of getting rid, now might be the optimum time. Coming into the January sales, players getting fit, new Manager bounce? Can't see it as he's doing just enough to earn his keep. It is still pretty poor though in terms of quality.

There's a club not a million miles from Villa Park who sacked their manager whilst they were up towards the top end of the table. That seemed to work well.

Chelsea ?

They are about 100 miles away.

As much as i'm unconvinced by Bruce he won't be, and doesn't deserve to be, sacked based on results. Part of the problem though is it kind of feels inbetween with him, good enough results to keep his job safe, not good enough results and performances to ever feel really confident we'll go up. Well i'm not as confident as i'd like to be.

Same colour shirts but much closer to home.

Who will replace him? I don't rate him particularly highly but who else can we get that will do a better job? Tony Pulis is available or can we tempt Mourihno or Guadiola? I think not.

Maybe di Matteo would have done a better job in the long run. He was sacked too early. That got us nowhere.

The only circumstances under which he gets sacked this season is if we have a run that takes us out of play off contention and I don’t expect that to happen.
So we are stuck with him for the rest or most of this season.
These slip ups are beginning to catch up with us though and plan B is nowhere to be seen.

Yeh from now on all future managerial decisions in football will be based on a poor example of some crackpot owners shooting themselves in the foot.

Just using it as an example that change when it's not needed does not always work.

Yes but why use possible the poorest  decision ever made to determine what we should or shouldn't do? It is very ague able that a change is needed at VP as Bruce is not delivering  squad capability whereas Rowett was over delivering.

Of course it's up for debate. I'd personally leave things as they are.

I’ve watched Derby. I love the way Rowett with next to no resources has them playing very decent football and now just behind us. Bruce with so much more relatively speaking has delivered a lot less. I’m convinced Rowett would do every bit as well if not better than Bruce if he was our manager and we’d be playing better football too.

We're much too far along with our promotion prospects to think of changing manager. By and large the football we play is limited, and I despise the fallback option of Johnstone lumping it forward when we're out of ideas, but we are where we are based on that football and it would be incredibly basket-case to have a change of manager now we're nearing halfway.

That said, I watched MOTD last night and saw Newcastle's struggles, and I can just feel in my bones we're more likely to be unable to work out Leicester's one tactic if we ever get back up than be the new Burnley or whoever. I expected Huddersfield to get a pasting every week but not only do they seem unfazed by it all, they're still playing decent football.

Wonder how we'd have coped if Ipswich had beaten us one nil?
