I’ve watched Derby. I love the way Rowett with next to no resources has them playing very decent football and now just behind us. Bruce with so much more relatively speaking has delivered a lot less. I’m convinced Rowett would do every bit as well if not better than Bruce if he was our manager and we’d be playing better football too.

Wonder how we'd have coped if Ipswich had beaten us one nil?

The same way we did when we drew 0-0 at home to a very average Boro team and Brentford lying 23rd at the time or Cardiff destroying us at the start of the season. Teams lose games. But he’s done a great job given their position when he took over and what he’s had to spend. And when you factor in how well he did at the noses he’s proving himself to be a very good manager at this level.

Yep, I think it’s fair to argue that£ for £ that Rowett is done  a far better job than Bruce.

Derby cannot spend much because they're at the FFP limit due to years of big spending relative to this league. I'm not sure what you're on about with the insinuation of where they were. They've been contenders for years.

When Rowett took over they weren’t exactly tearing it up is my point. They sat 10th, 10 points off the play offs. And the fact that they can’t spend for whatever reason yet still sit a point behind us is additional evidence that he is making the best of what he has.

My point was the people moaning about Bruce would be moaning about Rowett as thwyre cut from the same cloth.

How he got a tune out of the shower from across the city is a modern day miracle.

Who will replace him? I don't rate him particularly highly but who else can we get that will do a better job? Tony Pulis is available or can we tempt Mourihno or Guadiola? I think not.

Maybe di Matteo would have done a better job in the long run. He was sacked too early. That got us nowhere.
Why does it have to be those two extremes?? While I’d love to have Pep here, it’s unlikely as you say and there’s no difference between Bruce and Pulis really. I didn’t see the Millwall game but I’ve read this and the match thread. It’s typical Bruce football. Some fans accept rubbish if we win but it takes just two draws or a defeat to to remind them that it is just that.

Incredible after what he inherited and shambles since he left.

I disagree. Pulis packs his teams with defensive minded players and relies on set pieces for the majority of his teams goals. That's not something you can aim at Bruce.

It's still basically about retreating and conceding possession against teams deemed better than you or on your level.

We've struggled to dominate games against other top 6 teams hence why our record is mediocre in the main against them.

Still I don't really see the reason to sack him whenever we drop points, our form has largely been good the last three months.

The poor start to the season will likely cost us.

I kind of agree Clampy but the point is both of them produce football that is awful to watch. While we are winning, some fans accept that but it only takes a draw and it becomes unacceptable again. I can’t accept it even though I cheer when we win and cry when we lose

I have issues with how we have played at times under Bruce and Saturday's performance and was result was poor.  But no, our form has been strong overall this season, we are in the race for promotion, and currently sit quite pretty in the play-off places.  I think he's here for the season now, and deserves that time to try and get us up.  If he doesn't then we can return to this debate then.
