Still boring.

It's like a bad marriage.
"What's for tea?"
"Potatoes"
"What again?"
"Yes, potatoes are cheap, nourishing and fill you up."
"Fuck that! I'm off out."
"You fucking go out then."
*SLAM*
... 4 hours later.
*Click*
"You're back then."
"Yeah, I'm fucking starving."
"There's spuds in the oven."
"Fuuuuck you!"
..'.

There is absolutely zero chance of Xia getting rid of Bruce should we get promoted, even if its through the play offs, drawing every game 0-0, and then 'winning' 1-0 on penalty shootouts each time.

Xia, going by his regular communications, would be way too worried about how he would he perceived by the, pro-British, pro-Bruce, press.

Not a chance.

Bruce will only be gone when we are floundering near the bottom of the table. Which we will be.

Talk about a condemmed man.  I think Bruce has done well to stabilise a difficult situation.  Every manager makes mistakes in the transfer market.  For goodness sake  didn't Saunders buy Craig from Newcastle.

We have to be realistic  where our standing  is at the present time and build from there.

In short be careful what you wish for.

Does that mean you think we will/will not, should/should not keep him should we get to the PL?

Your response doesn't seem to answer, or relate to, my post.

I wish I had one of those crystal balls that some posters on this site appear to posess.

Here's one to match your suit, LeeB

When threads descend into this sort of continuous loop as they all too often do the only thing for it is this:

This thread has sunk to a new low, look what poor Chris has resorted to.

I think one thing we should all be able to agree on is that the last couple of months (bar the odd result/performance here and there) has been the most enjoyable sustained period for 4/5 years. We have players who care and leave it all on the pitch, plenty of youth coming through, play well on occasion and get results on the weeks we dont.
For the first time in ages there is some trepidation about playing AstonVilla. It may not be particularly long term planning under Bruce but im not sure that is right for us now anyway. When its time for him to go, he will be gone, just like those before him . Hopefully it will be mission complete before that happens

Bruce has put together a team that is competitive in the second division and dare I say probably will turn out to be the best in this division however there is a higher standard awaiting and it remains to be seen whether he can make us competitive  in the First division.

Let's take one step at a time, we are in the championship so let's concern ourselves with getting promoted and if we manage to do that then we can concern ourselves with how we will cope in the premier league.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and worry about something that hasn't happened yet.

And that is the problem Paul and I have in a nutshell. The teams that have gone up and stayed there over the last few years have done so based on their building a defined style and coached in a modern fashion.

The concern is that the shit or bust, it doesn't matter about the style, way of thinking is that it may very well mean we end up dropping back down again.

I want us to go up in the best shape we can to ensure we stay there. And I am not convinced this is the way to do it. The notion that we will just spend a shitload on a new team in the event of promotion is bonkers. I don't care what Keith Wyness says, it is.

I think that whenever a new manager is appointed we should automatically have a [insert name] out! thread ready for when he inevitably goes.

I'll have one started within a nanosecond of the first 2-0 defeat, have no fear.

This is where I am.
I know we shouldn't be worried what happens at the end of this season but we have a second-tier squad and a similar game-management approach. It will not suffice if we get promotion.

Why is it?

We went down because we spent too much on too little quality. If we go up we will need 4 or 5 quality players to make a big difference. I don't think anybody seriously thinks we will buy a whole new XI or that Wyness meant that literally.
