Anything short of ruthlessly getting rid when we get promoted would be incompetent stewardship from the owners. Give him a big bonus, a pat on the back, and the eternal gratitude of the fans.

Anyone else finding this boring?

Well there are two opposing schools of thought:

a/. Bruce is doing a good job. We are winning more than last season, the team is more organised and it looks likely that we will at least finish in the playoffs offering the chance we need to go up. Our injury list is bad, yet we are coping well and seem to be grinding out results.

b/. We are the biggest club in the division. Bruce is lucky to have the job and is an uninspiring choice. The results may be coming but it's not the right style of football of our standing. Look at Wolves and Huddersfield - they've thought outside the box and got results that are more impressive.

It's unlikely that people who vociferously believe a/.will persuade those who are strong believers of b/. to think otherwise. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

I might start insulting people to make my point seem more plausible and agreeable.

Neither of those cover my point, which is why I'm getting so fed up with people putting me into the 2nd group and ignoring anything I say that doesn't fit.

c/. We needed to use relegation as a spur to change the mindset of the entire club with a recruitment policy that looks at both the short-term impact and the long-term value of signings and a coaching structure that focuses on transferable skills so that changes in manager in the first team stop being wild lurches that cause us to constantly have half a squad that the current manager doesn't really want or know how to use.

Bruce isn't, in my opinion, the right type of manager to play a leading role in that, Wyness seems to agree and has put the whole restructure on-hold until we get promoted, which is ok so long as it happens which has been my point all along, Bruce can only be judged by very strict success criteria and he's right on the line between success and failure right now.

I think that whenever a new manager is appointed we should automatically have a [insert name] out! thread ready for when he inevitably goes.

Although I think some might struggle with the last bit.

There is absolutely zero chance of Xia getting rid of Bruce should we get promoted, even if its through the play offs, drawing every game 0-0, and then 'winning' 1-0 on penalty shootouts each time.

Xia, going by his regular communications, would be way too worried about how he would he perceived by the, pro-British, pro-Bruce, press.

Not a chance.

Bruce will only be gone when we are floundering near the bottom of the table. Which we will be.

How is thinking that applying a solution that covers the entire club and addresses the wasteful short term approach which led to our relegation a simplistic view?

How is "spend money, get experienced players and hope they work things out between them" not simplistic?

Do you know what simplistic means?

You expected Bruce to get us promoted last season didn't you. That is simplistic you thought Bruce = instant turn around and promotion at 1st attempt when if you applied some realism that was highly unlikely.

No I didn't and I've said as much repeatedly if you bothered to actually read anything, which is exactly why the whole discussion is so repetitive and dull.  I said that I expected him to have a good go at getting us into the playoffs because, I believe, you wouldn't sack a manager after 11 games in charge and replace him with a 'promotion expert' if you didn't expect that new manager to give you a chance at promotion. If the realistic view was that 13th was going to be a good finish why is it that none of you who are now saying that posted anything of the sort when he arrived? Could it be that you are now saying something with the benefit of hindsight that supports your view but that you didn't actually believe at the time?

Anyone else finding this boring?

Incredibly.

I started to respond in a long-winded way to this. Then realised that you told everyone you'd be away for a few days, then came back and told everyone why you were staying away and came back again 10 hours later to make another point and claim it's incredibly boring.

Talk about a condemmed man.  I think Bruce has done well to stabilise a difficult situation.  Every manager makes mistakes in the transfer market.  For goodness sake  didn't Saunders buy Craig from Newcastle.

We have to be realistic  where our standing  is at the present time and build from there.

In short be careful what you wish for.
