Look at Bolton and what they did and are doing and have made lots of player changes and actually they have been doing well enough and better than expected this season. Yet they have made numerous personnel changes .

Bristol city too as have had several important players leave yet they have adapted.

Derby , Leeds new managers and new players but even Ipswich aren't making excuses the way Bruce does about all the player changes .

It's a smokescreen though granted it's difficult for consistency Bruce needs to have a decent playing philosophy and team identity.

Saying we ll improve is all awell and good most of these players are the best in league and it's more skill and talent that need to be used in systems .

I wonder where Bruce would be if he was in charge of current Ipswich or Reading sides.

Neil Harris and Lee Johnson are a credit to their clubs and what they are achieving.
As was Heckingbotham at Barnsley.
Of course mentioned Dean Smith before but these managers may not be so good managing villa and not suggesting them just saying these are the men that are current not yesterday man Bruce.
And that they fit well for their clubs

We need someone who fits !

Anyone else think he doesn't look very well?

I think he needs a rest.

Do it now. Bruce doesn't deserve Rotherham at home.

I don't think any of us do.

Rotherham at home to a title chasing team should see par as 3-0.

You would be forgiven thinking that the instructions to those players is lads do those attacking things, But the lack of cohesion between the players doesn't suggest any sort of strategy.

Just come across the Athletico Mince podcast with Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson.  Episode 68 has a skit of Steve McLaren explaining to Tony Fernandes how he picks the team in song.  In short, McLaren sings: I get the  players together.  Put the one wearing gloves in goal.  The two tallest ones at centre back.  The ones with the sparkly boots go in the midfield.  Pick a tall one and a fat one to play up front.  And tell them to win the ball back when they haven't got it, and attack when they have.  What makes that funnier is there are more tactics in that spoof than in Bruce's!   https://athleticomince.com/2018/08/28/episode-68-fun-and-laughter/

Returning from the beach in the Greek Islands,I was aghast at the negativity of his team selection.I still thought that they had enough to beat a moderate Blackburn.
If you look at the resources that are at his disposal in comparison to other Championships,it exceeds the excesses of early Chelski and latterday Citeh in relation to other PL clubs.
An England striker on loan,3 other £10m strikers as back up,a Dutch international winger,a £20m winger, another wide player being last season's leading scorer.A £25m rated midfielder, accompanied by  a Scottish international midfielder.Add to the mix 3 players who were at the WC.A £10m rated defender,an expensive international keeper,a £5m left back.A very experienced former Scottish international full back.An expensive young player with experience at this level. An England U20 centre back on loan. One of Forest's better players .A promising bunch of home grown talent. And our last minute rescuer was a player we had to beat off opposition from Leeds, who is only good enough for the bench.
How can you not get that lot promoted ?
Spelling mistakes due to Ouzo.
Considering the ouzo factor that's a well thought out post and spot on.

I think you know what he means. It's just prolonging the inevitable. He needs to go and pdq

My feeling is whatever we think is our best team is, Bruce hasn't got a clue what his is. The whole Axel/Jedi disaster and then meekly admitting defeat, the selection of taylor and adomah after basically bomb squading/trying to sell them. Dropping Kodjia when he's been our main attacking threat, maybe because he has to play Abraham? Hourihane not getting a look in this season after scoring 11 goals from midfield last season...the list is endless really. He needs to get back to basics, select his best 11 and then introduce the new players. I feel a bit dirty giving him advice that could save his job but there you go.

After the Brentford game he stood there taking the plaudits and smugly telling the world that this was how the team should play and had planned for it and he finally had the players available to him to play that way.

How come we have been NOWHERE, absolutely nowhere  near that level of performance since, not even close to it for a few minutes in any game ?

Seems to me that the Brentford game was despite Bruce, not because of him.

I disagree.

Against Brentford we pressed really high. A little frenetic but it basically worked. That was Bruce instruction I'm sure

What if find frustrating is that we played that way for 20 mins v Reading and then haven't since

With this squad of attackers we really need to be on the front foot
