He's deleted most of the tweets now, he said those things before he was employed by us so I doubt there is anything against any club policy.

It's that the club either didn't check his social media or if they did they didn't care. Both strike me as unacceptable when employing someone whose job is communicating with fans, fans he hates.

How on earth can a football club employ somebody to work in social media without checking their social media beforehand? And if they did why didn't they suggest he deleted all his previous tweets or better still give the job to somebody who doesn't hate Villa?

I hope this has been bought to the attention of the club.

I worked at a firm who used to check your twitter / face book messages before you were offered a job, and I know that 1 potential employee was not offered a job because what they had previously stated on social media

If I'd been a 'social media executive' for less than six months, and my employer got wind I hated them, and I'd already published the fact in the public domain for all the world to see - on social media - I think I could expect not to see out my probationary period.

But yes, one word sums all this up on Villa's part: complacency. That's been the story at the club for years and years, and the whole organisation will continue to sink until it's stamped out.

I listened to Paul Merson on Talk Sport this morning.

He was saying that we had plucked players from lower league / smaller championship clubs who were used to playing in front of smaller crowds with lower pressures. And then they come to us and have to play in front of 30,000 + crowds and simply can't hack it.

Somebody on Twitter posts regular videos of Merson spouting his moronic bullshit. The best i've seen was when him and Phil Thompson were tearing into Marco Silva when he was appointed Hull manager. Nobody had heard of him, he's a joke and why didn't they persevere with Phelan or appoint an English manager with knowledge of the Premier League etc. These people are paid to spout such ill informed bullshit, it does make you wonder whether he's been advising Aston Villa for a few years now.

Yep it's the typical xenophobic nonsense you hear from football pundits.

Let's hope a few more checks are made before filling the Club archivist post that's currently being advertised. There's a few sad Noses who'd love the job of wiping away our history.

We need a Graham Taylor type to come in a completely obliterate the malaise from top to bottom. The players need to realise they're playing for Aston f*cking Villa and anything less than 100% application along with the ability to pass a ball 3 yards and stick in a decent cross will not be tolerated. I have absolutely zero hard evidence for this but from the outside looking in it seems as if players come to the come in order to collect a healthy pay check while putting in the minimum of effort. I really feel we need a ruthless dictator who will control of every aspect of the playing side of the club from top to bottom. Someone who will play the kids if the senior pros aren't pulling their weight. Someone who will talk the club up as the giant of English football that it is. Someone who cares as much as the fans do and won't accept losing to (no disrespect) tin-pot clubs such as Barnsley at home on a Tuesday night.

Bruce was brought in as that type of appointment though and he is being dragged into the downwards spiral as well.  I don't see another Graham Taylor out there at the minute to be honest.

We are only getting in a tizz about the media bloke because we got walloped last night.
Ordinarily, we'd have laughed it off or remained in the dark about it (as most were until a couple of hours ago).

Big deal - there are much bigger things to get irate and upset about.

I always thought that a 'nadir' was supposed to the lowest point, from where you again rise. Not something to be experienced on a fucking continuous basis.

We WILL rise again - possibly not in this lifetime but we will one day.

The best archivist we had was one of them. It doesn't matter as long as they do the job properly.

The dithering over the substitutions was strange. Bjork and Green were ready to come on, then they were told to put the bibs back on but then told to take them off again.
Why take off McCafu when he was one of the few attacking threats and actually putting some good crosses in ? Switching Adomah to right-back only to almost immediately bring Bacuna on to play right back wasted a substitution.
This was the straw that broke my back and I walked out I am ashamed to say. Say what we like about Hutton but last night he was our most effective player and Lansbury was best midfielder. He should have subbed Grealish and Hourihane. It was piss poor decision based on nothing but "oh I have to be seen to be doing something".

This was the same point when I walked out, I was fuming substituting our best two players on the night! Was I watching a totally different game to Bruce?
Absolutely clueless, Green for Grealish should have been the first sub after 60 minutes (or earlier) and access the situation after another 10 minutes.
