Which is all well and good and Merson maybe right about the new guys but what about the batch before? And the batch before that?

We are a palimpsest of players from several managers. Why it never works out only the universe knows, because I am out of answers.

Word of the day award!!

I wonder how many people had to Google that one!

At least being waterboarded gives you a chance to breathe (hope)

But it's the hope that kills you

Anyone know where Bree was last night?

You'd have though even if he had a broken leg he'd have wanted to get out there against his old club.

I can already see where this one is going....another massively hyped young player when the reality is he's pretty injury prone.

Alan Hutton must be one of the luckiest player alive...any player we sign to replace him gets injured within a week.

My latest theory as to why we have been in decline for a number of years.
Bodymoor Heath.

Since we built this state of the art facility we have been going down the dip.

Does this place make players feel that they 'have made it'. That they have reached their pinnacle and can coast ?
Or did we bulldoze an ancient Indian burial ground in preparation for the new swimming pool.

Marry the training ground with Villa Park, and players must feel like superstars, without actually needing to perform like one.

Of course, its clutching a straws and can't be the real reason....but there must be some deep, entrenched reason why the club is like it is?

I listened to Paul Merson on Talk Sport this morning.

He was saying that we had plucked players from lower league / smaller championship clubs who were used to playing in front of smaller crowds with lower pressures. And then they come to us and have to play in front of 30,000 + crowds and simply can't hack it.

Somebody on Twitter posts regular videos of Merson spouting his moronic bullshit. The best i've seen was when him and Phil Thompson were tearing into Marco Silva when he was appointed Hull manager. Nobody had heard of him, he's a joke and why didn't they persevere with Phelan or appoint an English manager with knowledge of the Premier League etc. These people are paid to spout such ill informed bullshit, it does make you wonder whether he's been advising Aston Villa for a few years now.

The dithering over the substitutions was strange. Bjork and Green were ready to come on, then they were told to put the bibs back on but then told to take them off again.
Why take off McCafu when he was one of the few attacking threats and actually putting some good crosses in ? Switching Adomah to right-back only to almost immediately bring Bacuna on to play right back wasted a substitution.
This was the straw that broke my back and I walked out I am ashamed to say. Say what we like about Hutton but last night he was our most effective player and Lansbury was best midfielder. He should have subbed Grealish and Hourihane. It was piss poor decision based on nothing but "oh I have to be seen to be doing something".

The post match discussion in the pub has reached the point where no one can figure out what the fuck is going on. Someone even put forward that the only thing we haven't changed is the back room staff. He thought maybe the kit man or the groundsman is a nose and is somehow managing to sabotage the club. He was fucking serious!!!

The kit man might not be a nose, but our social media dickhead is. https://twitter.com/jeavons24

We need a Graham Taylor type to come in a completely obliterate the malaise from top to bottom. The players need to realise they're playing for Aston f*cking Villa and anything less than 100% application along with the ability to pass a ball 3 yards and stick in a decent cross will not be tolerated. I have absolutely zero hard evidence for this but from the outside looking in it seems as if players come to the come in order to collect a healthy pay check while putting in the minimum of effort. I really feel we need a ruthless dictator who will control of every aspect of the playing side of the club from top to bottom. Someone who will play the kids if the senior pros aren't pulling their weight. Someone who will talk the club up as the giant of English football that it is. Someone who cares as much as the fans do and won't accept losing to (no disrespect) tin-pot clubs such as Barnsley at home on a Tuesday night.

If you're going to employ a social media dickhead, wouldn't it be an idea to, y'know, have a look at his social media?

For the sake of fuck.

So our Social Media Executive has tweeted things like "Despite hating the villa" "#shitonthevilla" "Praying di canio can help send the villa down tonight #rivals #hatewithapassion" "Always good seeing the villa lose" in the past.

Fuck me.
