Well done Cook and Root really stood up for us fought well....

I am afraid those two must carry the burden for losing the Ashes. 12 yes twelve innings from England’s elite batsmen have delivered circa 200 runs😥😥😥

This 'Rain' guy seems to have steadied the ship in this innings. If he can bat for a decent part of tomorrow we might save this.
Yes I think Rain as opener would be very effective just now. It will at least damp down Australians.

On the weather, they are expecting rain and extremely strong winds overnight and into the morning but improving as the day goes on. Sounds like the early start may not happen.

Good. Any chance of WACA being totally underwater?

Yes, if we can arrange for a James Bond style baddie to shine an intergalactic laser beam on to Antartica and melt the ice sheet in time for the start of play, however I do acknowledge that this is somewhat of a hammer to smash an egg with.

Other than that a 40/60% chance of between 10-20mm throughout the day.

The ball that got Vince out.... unbelievable.

Ball ended up 42cm away from where the original trajectory indicated it would go.

No chance of keeping it out

Vince batted beautifully but got done by one that hit the crack, it looked great and was most certainly unplayable but also it was typical of Englands luck, Kookaburra balls don't do when they're brand new let alone 35 overs old.

Out of the established players Cook, Root, Anderson and Broad, not one has stood up on this tour, in fact i believe Broad's just recorded his worst bowling figures of his Test career from memory 138-0.

Maybe Nathan Lyon will get some scalps after all.

I agree with you on the senior players not standing up, apart from Anderson who has bowled well (1st day at Adelaide aside) He is still operating at a very high level.

Broad has been poor and has had a poor year in total. Despite him being younger than Anderson, it appears he is the one in decline

Yes at times he has bowled well but that 1st innings at Adelaide was England's best chance and Anderson responded by bowling atrociously.

That was when he needed to make it count, 2nd innings wickets like yesterdays when the games effectively over is basically putting lipstick on pig.

And plus there's the 'Ducket incident' when with all thats gone on before we find he was back out on the piss again.

It’s going to start raining at 3.00pm local time so just hang in there England.

As massive as the gulf has been between Smith and Root so far in this series the one between Lyon and Moeen is probably greater.

Lyon gets him yet again, Moeen's confidence must be in bits.

It's been another, as expected, weak effort. In recent years our all rounders have been a point of difference but unfortunately Stokes got himself suspended and Ali and Woakes have been in atrocious form. They've been able to help cover the top order failings before, but not this tour.

England have been unbelievably predictable. No fight no guts.
