Found this:

http://www.espn.co.uk/cricket/story/_/id/20923290/reece-topley-jamie-overton-england-pace-programme

That story is hugely encouraging, i just hope they look for sub-continent placements at times as well.  One of the biggest problems England have had for years is that the best test players almost inevitably have time in county cricket and learn how to play our conditions but very few English players ever experience playing in other countries beyond IPL/Big Bash contracts.  It's why we struggle batting on the back foot or facing spin at both ends, it's why our bowlers settle at a swinging pace rather than pushing on and it's why our spinners don't develop natural variations because they all settle into a style that works in our conditions.

Finn, from the list above, is a great example, had express pace but with a bad habit of clipping the stumps, to fix it they remodelled his action and he's now 6-7mph slower and bowling like a swing bowler and doesn't look anything special.

I'm not sure how many of our county players spend time abroad playing. I know Mike Gatting used to play in the Aussie county leagues when he was a young man. It may still be the case of players going overseas in our winter.

Looks like only weather can save us from defeat in this match, and realistically only weather can curtail a 5-0 series defeat. Its a dismay that only now England seem to realise thelack of pace in the attack in Australia is a fundamental flaw. Its been pretty obvious to most England fans since the hammering in 2013.

No rain forecast today. By the time play starts it will be sunny and 22 so could be good conditions for batting.

A pretty embarrassing session again from England. Poor shots from Vince and Root and a very soft one from Cook.

There doesn't appear to be a great deal of character in this side.

I can accept not being good enough as it's obvious that England are just not as good man for man than Australia right now. What is unacceptable is the lack of application shown by the batsman, Captain and former Captain included.

That "shot" from Moeen just about sums it all up.

I hope Root shuts up now. All the crap he came out with, about how we were extra motivated by the Aussies comments.

Pathetic, and sadly unsurprising. This is looking like another disaster tour.

Also sadly I don't think Root is even in the conversation with Smith and Kohli for best bat in the world. He gives it away far more often than those two.
