Burton's support was pretty good.  Ours was very quiet for most of the game.  What was going on in the lower North? The Villa fans seemed very animated towards the Burton fans.
I was in the north lower, burton was singing some Saville song. A fat bold burton fan with glasses was spotted and there were chants of peado at him.

Damn! Wish I'd been there.

You and me both pal-Who needs bright enterprising football when you have such "banter" between the fans.

I'm really struggling to find any minuscule of criticism to throw at the Burton fans.  They were good natured and there to enjoy a big game in their clubs history.  I really am at a loss to understand how anyone would want to begrudge them of that, or  find fult with their impeccable behaviour at the ground.

Come back Millwall-All is forgiven.

So a fat, bald (I think that's what you meant) man in glasses is a paedophile that rules in about 50% of middle aged male community. I do hope you didn't join in that chant?

But not pissed up enough to stop you carrying out a head count on the number of male Burton supporters who wore their clubs colours?

I liked Burton supporters. Nice decent people. Thursday night scum will turn up and stink the place out.
Not for me, burton's support resembled a SWP rally,  they all looked the same all in wooly hats and scarves to match. Leeds have more traditional away support nearly all male and majority not in club colours, manures is the same. I would say our away support is 70% male not in club colours.

Fans attend December match in hats and scarves, shocker.

What exactly is your point? Are you saying the Burton fans weren't a serious 'crew'? Not enough mouth foaming, knuckle dragging Neanderthals?

If so, that supports my opinion of them.  Seemingly genuine, decent football supporters enjoying one of the biggest days out they are likely to experience in the league.
supporters dressed all in official merchandise are not individuals.

I would have a very different interpretation.  Many away travelling fans feel the need to travel without team colours to avoid unnecessary confrontation from your typical meat-head who might target a fan, I don't know, maybe being a paedo for example.  Whereas the Burton Albion fans, realising that a Boxing Day game with a larger and unhostile neighbour would allow them more freedom to where their official merchandise.

I wouldn't really call them a neighbour.

I cannot let the Burton thread sink below the waves without thanking them for immortalising Gabby in their club badge.

Good spot Brian. I had to google it but the resemblance is uncanny.

Although I suspect altruism is probably a concept that you naturally struggle with, I was looking at things from the Burton fans position.

Being the 3rd nearest away day for them after Derby and Forest (and keep in mind Aston Villa has often been referenced as having one of the largest catchment area of fans), we will have been the nearest 'big' team to them the majority of the last 30 years.
