If we manage to scrape promotion this season, we will be back down here again the following season with this lot.

We wouldn't be picking all of "this lot" if we got promoted.

Agree with the comments about Bunn - thought he did well today and, unlike Gollini, he wasn't surgically attached to his goal line - got out quickly a couple of times to snuff out danger.

Great three points.   Unforgivable substitutions.

In years to come, when Sir Gareth Mouthgate finally harnesses the awesome power of his Ingerlund DNA theory, they will replay this game to remind us how bad football used to be.

Fair play to Bunn, that was as solid as I've seen him in a Villa shirt.  A crucial win that could be the springboard for a great 2017.

Woeful game. Kodjia was the only difference between two utterly skidmark sides. No quality whatsoever. We've tried flair in this league, but it doesn't work (when you load too many in the same side). Ayew and Grealish come out the side but the result is we're far too ordinary in midfield, but thankfully a bit of spark from Kodjia was still enough to win the game.

Jedinak and the backline did well. They kept QPR (easily) at bay.

Still, we can't expect great quality in this division. We have to be a bit realistic. We'll probably look fairly decent at home in games, but most games we're going to look ordinary. We're going to be involved in shite games because there's just no quality in the division. It's tortuous to watch on the most part so results are paramount. With that in mind, I'm pleased today. But lets not start expecting to win in style. It's unlikely.

Gabby further proved how wrecked he is as a player. The effort is actually there but he's done for. No touch, no quality. He never had a brain. Get him out ASAP. It's too little too late. I honestly think he'd struggle in L2 he's that fucked as a player now.

As ugly wins go, that was pig ugly. Three points though even if we still show very few signs of looking like a team.

Anyone want to guess the last time we could enjoy Christmas having won the previous game?

2010 v the Baggies.

Why would we want him in The Holte?

Deserved win but not a commanding performance. Good day for Bruce, those he brought in all played well and his tactical change to 442 after about 20 mins was crucial. Kodjia, missed peno aside was outstanding thereafter. Baker was particularly good at the back and Gardner had a solid game as a number 8 before tiring.

Gabby was a very unpopular sub but made a decent impact. Bringing on Gestede as a loan centre forward is never a good idea, then again he did have a great chance to make it 2-0. McCormack looked lost.

Still struggling to put away rank sides like QPR but an important three points.

Bunn 7, Hutton 6, Chester 6, Baker 8, Amavi 7, Adamoah 6, Jedinak 5, Gardner 7, Bacuna 7, McCormack 4, Kodjia 8. Gabby 7, Westie and Rudy 6

Can't believe how important baker has become to the team. Fair play to the lad always give it his all.
