Probably Chester'a best game to date, but in fact all the back 4 and Jedinak defended very well when Cardiff dominated for an hour in the 2nd half. For all their possession they had few decent chances. I agree with what others have said about the best players: Grealish, Adomah,Chester, Amavi, Jedinak.

Just as satisfying as the win is that it's actually enjoyable watching Villa. When did we last say that?

Baker - 7 solid and dominant but distribution a bit meh.

Y'know that old saying about Maradonna's right foot being only for standing on. Well, Baker's left and right feet are only for standing on.

For someone who has an almost total inability to kick a ball, he's making a good living playing football.

Having said that, I'd have him in the team ahead of Mad Tom any day

Under RDM our song would have been 5 minutes by the stranglers. With our recent run under Bruce I would have thought confidence would be sky high in the team but we still don't look a confident team in sections of matches. Fair play to Bruce for what he has achieved but I think the previous years of mismanagement totally wiped out any traces of confidence in the players and it is still taking sometime to rid ourselves of the self doubt. Even new players brought in seemed to have their confidence removed as soon as they pulled the shirt on. May it never happen again.

Concerned that Tshibola is not even on the bench? Would've been a good option to bring on in the second half for Westwood who I thought looked too lightweight, especially being out-muscled for their goal.

So didn't see the game - any one know why Kodjia didn't take the penalty?

He started to lose his mo-jo more and more as the second half went on - he was found consistently putting in shit crosses to nobody and losing the ball outwide.

Wouldn't suprise me if he wasn't feeling confident?

I saw it that, given Gestede is a former Cardiff player, he *really* wanted to take it.

This.  I've no idea why he can't get a game.

A Villa fan on a Sa-a-aturdee

With a nod to Arthur Askey.  Ask yer Grandads'

No need for me.

My Dad lived a street away.

I don't like this Oasis bollocks at the end though.

If they play DLBIA every time we win at home, I hope we're all thoroughly sick of it by the end of the season! You just gotta roll with it... ;)

Whatever.

I'm going to repeat my suggestion for The Twang's "Either Way" for the following reasons:

Brummie band
Lead singer is a big Villa fan
The chorus of "I feel so much better today, chase the bad things away" is MUCH more appropriate than the chorus to Don't Look Back In anger.  In fact most of the lyrics seem kind of fitting.
The chorus is a bit of a laddish chant that's easy to sing and would catch on I reckon.

Yeah I feel better today, I think that shit was just a phase,
My whole outlook's changed, I've even stopped feelin' strange.
I can understand why you was mad now,
Why should you be the one who has to loose out, just 'cause I'm on one?
I said "I'm always gonna have shit going on!"

I feel so much better today, chase the bad things away.

I was glad I turned the corner man, 'cause I was sick of feelin' rough
I was getting paranoid about the silliest of stuff.
I was at me wit?s end pulling my hair out, I'd just about had enough.
And all I needed was just a hug and that little bit of love.

I feel so much better today, chase the bad things away.

And I really do feel so much better, I really do feel so much better.
And I've gotta find my phone to tell yer,
Maybe even write you a love letter.
Either way I've gotta tell ya, either way I've gotta tell ya,

I feel so much better today, I've chased the bad things away.

And yeah I really do feel better and it almost don?t feel right,
So I'm gonna store this thought away for a bit,
And I'm not saying it ain't gonna be hard at times,
'Cause it's always your favourite top you bin,
But think man it could have been your skin.
And I think we might just be OK, but what does it matter either way,
'Cause she's the one that's always there.
Yeah she's the one that always cares.
Yeah she's the one that always there.
'cause your the one that always cares.
I love ya.
I've gotta find my phone to tell 'er
Ah, maybe even write you a love letter.
Ah, either way I've gotta tell ya, either way I've gotta tell ya,
Ah either way I've gotta tell ya, either way I've gotta tell ya,
Either way either way either way (lots of either ways)

One of the few songs that you can hear a proper Brummie accent coming through. " I love ya!"
Forgot how much I enjoy The Twang as much as I forgot how much I enjoy the Villa winning.

I'd love to see you mate (and The Twang) but I've got loads on next month and am already scared of running out of Christmas money.

Works 'do' next week, Call Me Unique at Night Owl week after, kids at their nan and grandad's week after that, so probably an all-nighter, out (with the lulus!) Christmas Eve.

Other than Westwood's sloppiness leading up to their goal, I thought we  played pretty well all game. Picking a MOTM was a tough choice between Grealish and Jedinak, the latter who's signing might well be a massive part of helping us back up.

Good win, and it's always nice to upset Colin Wanker.
Thought Jedinak and Amavi were excellent, and Grealish is invaluable to us.
