On 16th November 1963 we beat Manchester United 4 - 0 at VP, which I believe is our biggest margin of victory over United since the end of World War 2. The late great Tony Hateley scored twice, with Harry Burrows and Alan Deakin also on target. The match is probably best remembered for the sending off of Denis Law, for kicking Deakin. whilst he was on the ground. The crowd was 36k, but it is interesting to note the crowd for the return fixture at Old Trafford was only 26k and United finished 2nd in the league that season. They didn't have their glory hunters in those days.
Question for all you super vets - why in team photos of that era were some players wearing V necks and some round necks?
When Duff got injured, Andy Townsend's father Don Townsend replaced him.The Leicester win was a couple of seasons later, when we were back in the top flight.
