Westwood loved playing for Villa. On the day we went down he left the field in tears.  Gabby who is cheered by the moronic majority at the games was in a London hotel with hippy crack and dodgy looking women.  I think as a footballer he has never had a great strength or been coached to a specific role, but he's given his all and i wish him well. There are many to be critical of above Westwood.

Spot on, well said.

If people think that Westwood is one of the worst players they have seen down Villa Park, then I have seen a lot worse than him and a few a still conning a living out of our club.... Gabby / Richards to name but a few.

I feel that Gabby is putting a shift in for us, both on the pitch and in training.  Bruce is nobodies fool and would not suffer anyone taking the P, lightly.

He may well be nowhere near good enough but it may possibly be wrong to suggest that he's conning a living.

I honestly feel that Richards is finished as a footballer at this level.  He is way too big and cannot last more than 45 minutes (if you're lucky).  To compensate this, he looks to play in roles that don't require much running.  Unfortunately, he is not very good in those roles.

I couldn't 'hate' Westwood, he just wasn't good enough but doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as the likes of Agbonlahor and Richards, same with Hutton, he's useless but seems to actually care. I hope Westwood does well at Burnley.

I too would have loved to play for the Villa and I too would have been mainly shite at this level. Everybody would have loved my efforts but would have been delighted when I got moved on. Good luck Ashley! No hard feelings but it is time for a change.

Don't know what clips you were looking at but I saw a natural finisher, almost Alguero-esqe.  Can't remember the last time we had such a beast (discounting the McFatty of course who came with such a reputation)

Dammit we've missed out on Adebayor.

 :'(

Saw a great description of him the other day "If you could get him on a rolling contract, he'd be a world-beater"

Yeah, a monthly one.

I agree. A model professional and a real shame he just wasn't good enough

You'd have thought a man paid millions for kicking a football would have learned how to kick a football in five years. Sadly, it wasn't to be. Having said that, 'neat and tidy' Ashley did become a master of trying to look like a footballer, while mainly running around with, and pointing at, actual footballers.

I would say don't let the door hit you on the way out, but I expect you'll find a way to make it look like a near miss while avoiding it altogether.

Agree 100%, he was made a "whipping boy" by some on here, when there were players much more deserving of that title. Good luck to him

He wasn't, he was consistently awful for 5 years and ire reflected that.

He was never consistently awful for 5 years - you could make the point about the past couple of seasons, and parts of Lambert's final season, but he did fine in his first couple of seasons.

He was appalling from day one. I remember shaking my head in disbelief in early December in his first season here when the club PR were laughably talking him up for an England selection. He was a League 1 standard player thrown into the PL and boy did it show. How he's continued to hoodwink some fans for all this time remains one of life's great mysteries.
Good riddance to him.
