I'd say 7 is ample & thet's not counting Adomah who operates as a winger in a 4 man midfield.

£5 million for Westy & game time for Tish works for me.

I'd guess the pecking order for CM positions is probably

Lansbury
Hourihane
Jedinak
Thor
Grealish
Gardner
Lyden

That's pretty decent. If we play a 2 then gardner's going to find game time restricted with or without injuries

Hogan was very impressive at Villa Park earlier this season.  Very Lively, ran the channels, chased our fullbacks into the corners and also managed to look dangerous.  I liked him a lot.  Only time I have seen him and I was hoping we might be interested but West Ham seemed to have been nailed on as his destination.  Deano is a big Villa fan so I am sure He would rather he came to us.

If I had to have picked three realistic targets that we should have tried to sign it would have been Lansbury, Hourahain and Hogan, so I am pleased anyway but this would make it fantastic.
Of course they then have to actually perform in a Villa Shirt, which is the hard bit.

I think Gardner, Bacuna and Bjarnason are enough for central midfield options, presuming the starting three is Jedinak/Lansbury/Hourihane, although with Bjarnason, I suppose you're hoping that Grealish and Green play well enough to make the left side their own.

Anyway, great business if true; given that Westwood looked like an OK PL midfielder in his first two seasons, I think it had more to do with him completely and utterly losing his confidence.
