I'd like Shane Long, or Shayne Lung as he was known at the Stripey Filth.

That's how I pronounce it, too.

Jouro on Twitter reckons we have had a bid accepted by Brentford for Hogan and that Burnley are in for Westwood.

I hope it's Shayne Lung.  Love turning the enemy.  We signed Dave Walsh from them who chipped in with ten goals from a third of a season.  I still think I dreamed that season when our Nos 8, 9 and 10 (Thomson, Walsh, Dixon) scored 53 goals between them.

The informer on FB sharing a tweet from someone named Dean Jones saying Brentford have accepted our offer for Hogan.

Shane Long would be an excellent addition. But it's looking far more likely it's Hogan we're in for. The Twitter rumour suggests a bid has been accepted but we probably won't get him, so there has to be a back-up option now Ayew has gone. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Bruce suggested this was a surprise and we were linked to Hogan earlier in the season weren't we?

We were linked at the end of December, but then West Ham started bidding once the window actually opened and it was assumed he'd end up there.

If nothing else, it might nobble Brentford for tomorrow evening.

We were, but I'm guessing Steve Bruce has better things to do than browse threads such as this one, or the more witless branches of social media to remember every player who had been mentioned over the last few months.

Quite. Fried chicken isn't going to eat itself and electronic gates won't climb themselves.

did he play against us earlier in the season because the only Brentford player I recall is the little ginger fella who ran the game in the second half.
