Long would be giving up a cup final and the chance to play for a whole host of other PL clubs, so unlikely.

Neil Taylor + £5m for Ayew apparently.

If that's the case, we've been shafted there.

What a load of trollocks.

What's bollocks - the deal, or the shafted bit?

The former, sadly.

So basically £7m ish for Ayew as Taylor is regarded as shite and hasn't had a look in at the Swans this season. Don't like this deal but the rest of the window has been good so can't complain too much. Hopefully we dont slap in a daft £10m bid for Rhodes now though.

I hope he turns out to be a useful signing. He's playing in claret and blue now and I will judge him on how he performs for the Villa.

We needed a back-up left back, and I think he'd be competent at Championship level.

I just don't think he was a big enough makeweight for Ayew.

7m for Ayew given his form is legendary

I wish we could do a similar deal for McCormack.

If on some planet Swansea's third choice left back is worth £2m.

And even if he is, £7m for Ayew is peanuts.  Why not keep one of our few players capable of turning a game?

A Championship club came in for Scott Hogan over the weekend apparently. 2+2 = ?
Norwich

Reading

When skimming through the Sky Sports transfer centre thing I noticed the words 'Scott Hogan' and 'Aston Villa' in the same paragraph, which was exciting. Unfortunately they were just highlighting that he is likely to feature against us tomorrow..

He won't feature tomorrow against us surely with move speculation

Did we pay £7m for Ayew too? Re-couped, like Gueye, just about. Not bad considering we got relegated and bargain fire-sales often accompany such fate.

Not bothered about Ayew going, has been shit this season. Slightly more concerned about the comments that Taylor is shit too. Oh well, we'll soon see. He was heavily linked to Tottenham a while ago but seems to have dropped off the radar since.

Yes, this is my attitude.  He arrives with a clean slate.  He is an international player and given that 2 reserve PL full backs have recently moved for around £12 million eaxh, it would be reasonable to assume that Taylor was/is good value and worth a punt at £2-£3 million.

Ayew is not a first choice Villa player so Swansea fans could be forgiven in questioning why they have bought a Championship reserve striker.  For me, this would have been a good deal (for Swnsea) in the summer but since then, Ayew has lost his way a little bit, partly because Bruce has taken over and sacrificed him for a more traditional midfielder, in an attempt to balance the side.

I;m not dancing from the rooftops over this one but how long should we have persevered with Ayew?  Given the signings this window, his chances of tarting were even more remote.  £5 million plus a LB for a reserve striker may not be that bad come this time tomorrow, if we have bought in an upgrade on Ayew,

Can't say i'm too bothered about Ayew but would have been far better to have kept him and got Agbonlahor and McCormack out of the club. Easier said than done.
