So that's a right back, goalie, 3 midfielders and possibly a forward in. Not bad at all.

Our transfer windows are more entertaining than the football.

If we do sign James Bree, Conor Hourihane & Bikir Bjarnason before the end of this week. They along with Lansbury will completely transform our season for me. All four will be starters, the midfield will finally have some attacking threat, creativity and bite and even though he's still a kid, i think Bree will make vast improvements on Hutton

The only question is how do we fit all the midfielders in, play a four with Bjarnason, Hourihane, Lansbury and Adomah ? or a three with Bjarnason doing the Jedinak role ?

All I can say is i hope to God this happens tomorrow

seems it's not Chuba Akpom - Bjarnason of FC Basel mentioned - if remotely likely please find someone who knows more about him (won't be hard).

Nicknamed 'Thor' ...aren't all Icelanders nickamed 'Thor' ?...anyway,
Birkir Bjarnason is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Swiss club FC Basel in the Swiss Super League and the Iceland national football team . Has palyed for Liege, Sampdoria , Pescara  ( twice ) and now Basel. 4 GOALS & 2 ASSISTS in 20 games  ( incl Champs Lge ) 2016/17.................Godzvilla!

Oh gawd. Footyskillz will insist that we start up that bloody Thunderclap malarkey.

Birkir Bjarnason has agreed to join Aston Villa and is due in for a medical tomorrow, the Birmingham Mail understands.

The 28-year-old Icelandic midfielder is moving from Swiss side FC Basel and will add to Villa’s growing list of January arrivals.

Barnsley duo James Bree and Conor Hourihane are also set to sign with Villa just waiting to finalise the deals.

It’s thought that Bree could be announced today while Hourihane’s move is expected to be completed tomorrow.

Bjarnason, a Iceland international, played for Basel in the Champions League this season and has bagged four goals already this term.

He will bring goals and creativity to a midfield region that has been lacking in recent times should he pass a medical at the club, as expected.

Boss Steve Bruce has been keen to add to the midfield to help boost his side’s promotion push.

Villa are also looking for a new striker after their £6m bid for Jordan Rhodes was turned down by Middlesbrough last week.

Great! Now, please can we quietly offload Gardwood somewhere? Cor, this transfer business is great craic, I'm already tired of last summer's lot.

If somehow we got rid of McCormack and Richards this window it would be good. Gabby too but that isn't going to realistically happen.

I'm worried that with all these players in Birmingham ready to sign, the rags could unleash their war chest and usurp us.

sorry to be a pain here but I've not been keeping up with transfer arrivals
can someone give me a quick summary please

have we actually signed Bree yet as there is a picture of him in a Villa shirt which normaly means its done ?
where are we with the Hourihane ?
is there anyone one else in the pipeline ?

thanks in advance

The doc has tweeted one deal is 99.9% done, I assume that's Bree.  Then the next one is 98% done which I would gather is Hourihane, then another one saying 51% someone else.  That's about it but now there is speculation of an Icelandic player.

cheers, haven't got time to work through the threads so thanks

They did try and get a warchest but ended up with one of those plastic storage tubs they always have outside home bargains that doesnt have a lid and a pigeon has shat on

This kind of courage last January and we might still be in the Premiership.

Given what has come out in the wash I'd say we'd have been doomed anyway with those supposedly in charge, and would probably have been less attractive saddled with more debt.
