Regarding the angst about timing of signings, getting pants pulled down on fees etc. The obvious answer to all that is to avoid heading into transfer windows whilst being desperate for new signings, which we've not been very good at for the past few years.

I agree, I think a big part of this is that we seem to constantly look at things as "if we add x,y,z then we'll be fine" and the whole club is then infected by the idea of getting to the next window so we can fix stuff rather than working on fixing it at BMH.

Looks as if we might be close to Lansbury.John Percy is reporting fee of 3million and within the next 24 hours.

Also linked to a 17 year old from Bury.

I asked a Bury fan at work if this kid was any good and he had to Google him!

On that basis I would suggest he was very much one for the future rather than the promotion push (ahem) this season

With Andi Weimann going to Wolves on loan, I wonder if Rhodes will end up at Derby?
I thought Westwood and Weimann always seemed to play well together ... are you listening, Lamberk?!
I see another Lambert signing has made a move. Jordan Bowery has gone on loan to Crewe. His career since leaving Villa in 2014 -  Rotherham -loaned to Bradford - Oxford - Leyton Orient - Loaned To Crewe.

Lansbury in before the weekend apparantly.

Albion spending £27m on Ighalo and Livermore. Football has gone mad.

Christ you could buy everybody and everything in West Bromwich and still have a lottery win in change from £27million!

come from the fact we aren't paying the nearly £10m we would have to in transfer fees. he can command a higher salary. Lets just hope he doesn't just rest on his laurels when/if he gets here.
Hourihane would be a a much more economical signing if the numbers reported are anyway accurate - he'd also offer us balance we haven't had since the snake left

The Jenkinson to Palace deal is on hold because he wanted an increase from his Arsenal bench-warming wages of ...... 40k per week

What a twat.  He's made 5 appearances this season and is jeopardising a move because he wants more than his current £40k.  It's hard not to hate these players sometimes.

Didn't realise Lansbury hasn't played since 11 Dec due to hamstring.   Hope he's fit enough to hit the ground running.

think he's been fit for the last week or two but not in the right head space to be selected

is there any danger of us actually signing someone? Saturday is going to be tortuous based on recent performances, if not.

The club are trying their hardest to bring players in-They are not purposely submitting silly bids that they know will be rejected.  If the selling club refuse, what are we supposed to do?  Double our offer because it's absolutely essential that we get a player in for January.

As it happens, we will end up playing only 3 games in January (league) & that's counting the game on the 2nd.  We really have time now as we only have Saturdays game to worry about.

We have this every year-Constant bleating about lack of activity in January.  It is traditionally hard to sign players in this window, why should it be any diferent this year?  I saw Sam Allerdyce yesterday stating that Crystal Palace had up to 8 offers in for players yet only one had signed.  Both clubs and players are juggling still, waiting to see who bids.  A plan A for us could be someone elses plan B and until that someone else decide what they are doing, it is unlikely that the player in question will join us.  In a ficticious scenario, both ourselves and Palace could be in for Brady at Norwich.  Brady will be keen to go to the PL and until the Palace interest dies, or they look elsewhere, he won't consider our offer.

We are going to get players in-Of that there is no doubt.  We're not the only club who haven't set the world alight so far-Unless you want the type of player that nobody else wants, you have to be patient.  It is definately not as simple as putting an offer in and buying a player.
Agree - by my reckoning Sam Johnstone = 1/1 in signings for Bruce so far- young with ability, yes it would be great to get another 4 in (Three midfielders and one forward ) as I don't think our defence is anywhere near as bad as people think and would certainly be helped with options to pass out to and support from a midfield , but if we only get two more mid twenty year olds in this window then we are still building. Rather that than 5 29 year olds who end up being 30 by September -we'd have to look at ground improvements to make a bigger stronger bench to take the weight
