Even if they are, to lose out to a club that until 18 months ago have been pretty diabolical for years wold show where we are.  Type of deal that should not have got to where we are, we should have moved heaven and earth for the 2 of them in the first couple of days of the window.

Reports on SKY suggesting that Patrick Bamford is available on loan.  Surely would be worth it until the end of the season?

20 games and no goals in two years, the exact sort of transfer we make that ends up being shit and costing us cash.

If I was looking for a striker I'd be testing the Forest owners resolve for getting a few quid in after the takeover failed & trying for Assombalonga in a double deal with Lansbury.

If we could find a striker similar in mentality to Mirallas that would be great too :-)

As I've now pretty much given up on top 6 I'd be quite happy if the next fortnight was a revolving door to get a good few in / out with the proviso that this is an 18 month run at promotion....if McCormack, Ayew & Amavi were all sold I wouldn't bat an eyelid, in fact Chester, Baker & Kodjia would be the only ones I'd not consider selling :-) - the more we do now then the summer is about tinkering not wholesale surgery & of course getting the lot of them FIT!

Watching Fiorintina Vs Juventus, the right back for Fiorintina had a superb game. Good in the tackle, nothing got by him, tons of energy up and down the flank and puts in a decent cross.
Carlos Sanchez his name!

Looks a stone lighter and fit as a fiddle. We just don't train them right!!!

Yeah, it's gotten to the point where I think any player who shows improvement while playing for us has probably done so in spite of us, not because of us.

There are probably a bunch of parallel universes out there where many of the various crap players who have turned out for us in the past few years are perfectly competent Premier League players.

Steve Bruce does not do young and inexperienced.  He prefers slow and steady, no excessive risk options.  He does not scoop up points he grinds them out.  Thud and blunder.  Bump and grind is the Bruce way.

Which is strange in a way Brian considering he played in a team that contained arguably the best influx of youth team players making the step up to become first team regulars that has been produced in modern times.  You would think he'd see the benefits.

That was an exceptional group and something that hasn't been repeated since, at least in this country.

Personally, I'd start green against Preston, but I don't think our problems will be solved by the youth team.

Brian, give us a wave, Brian Brian give us a wave.

I've just bought a £500 wacker for our young builder, don't think it helps the villa

Speaking to a Fiorentina fan yesterday about Snchez and he said he started well but has been pretty average since then.

Pretty soon we will be left with just one left back with cissokho about to leave, the one we are left with cannot defend so really hope that area of the team will be sorted this window.

Loaning Aly out seems a strange one to me.

Amavi is fine going forward but his defending was woeful on Saturday. Yes, he had one great run skipping over/past a few tackles but their right-side when past him on several occasions.
