I'm not overly concerned, regarding our position in the league, at the moment.
If we're honest the play offs is what we'll be aiming at.
To my knowledge there is always a team that hits form and makes a surge towards the end of the season and nip into the play offs.
10 points isn't a great gap in the grand scheme of things.
Whether we're that team is to be seen.
Let's see what January brings

Out of interest, does anyone know
1) points total to finish 6th over last 3 years
2) What's the biggest gap that's been clawed back by a side that's snuck into the play offs
(I'm too lazy to look it up myself)

With the Forest takeover now collapsed I'd expect to see Lansbury here stretching the shirt either tomorrow or Tuesday.

The way we have been playing for the last month is the type of form you do not turn around in a couple of weeks.  Particularly as we seem to be set in a system that creates the square root of f*** all.

Sadly we are now rebuilding for next season, the Playoff ship has sailed for this season. Take our time, no panic buys we need to get the right personnel in that are going to serve us for the next 3 years and build a team ready to compete in the Premier League. Steve Bruce's system works, he will get us promoted next season let's show a bit of patience.

Am I right in thinking Lansbury has in effect gone on strike at Forest? Sounds like just the sort of character our shower of shite are crying out for.

We should only ever be looking for sensible buys anyway but a win or two and everyone will be talking about a run at the play-offs.

Steve Bruce does not do young and inexperienced.  He prefers slow and steady, no excessive risk options.  He does not scoop up points he grinds them out.  Thud and blunder.  Bump and grind is the Bruce way.

Which is strange in a way Brian considering he played in a team that contained arguably the best influx of youth team players making the step up to become first team regulars that has been produced in modern times.  You would think he'd see the benefits.

That was an exceptional group and something that hasn't been repeated since, at least in this country.

Personally, I'd start green against Preston, but I don't think our problems will be solved by the youth team.  And even those Man Utd kids emerged into a team with Cantona, Pallister, Keane, Cole and Irwin.

Lansbury and Hourihane in front of Jedinak in a 3 will give us such a different look, simply because they are genuinely forward thinking players.  I am disappointed we did not have them ready to sign 2 weeks ago. Round is employed to sort things like that out.

The ex Wolves guy I don't get at all. 3m at 31 and not back for 6 weeks.  Almost as stupid as resurrecting Gabby. Oh shit.

I want Sako from Palace. Proven at this level and has some pace.

I can't explain it.  It is just Bruce's way.  No frills, nothing fancy, just a job of work.  That is why I am confident he will get us back up one day.  He is workmanlike.

I know I should not get pissed off by links, but in the absence of other rumors,
We want the guy from Watford who is being replaced  by Cleverlly.
Hang on, most of us did not want Cleverlly back, but we are interested in the guy that he is pushing down the pecking order at Watford !
I would have imagined with our glaring shortfalls we would have done more by now than bring in an on loan GK
God, it is frustrating being a Villa fan.

For that to happen Jedinak needs to massively up his game. He isn't breaking up play and his distribution is diabolical.

He's trying to do too much. Put 2 players that can run and pass with him. Wednesday fans reckon Hourihane is nailed on for them.  Losing out to Wednesday for players would be a real wake up call.

Pretty sure Mignolet and Henderson were his big successes at Sunderland. Robbie Brady at Hull. Maybe a little unfair on Bruce, didn't he bring the likes of Valencia and Palacious for chump change at Wigan too.

Not necessarily. It might just mean his family are settled in South Yorkshire.
