Bruce must get at least two midfielders in this window. A striker is a must also - what if Kodjia gets an injury in Africa? The timing of Gestede's departure is baffling. We've taken the £6M and left ourselves short, which is poor planning.

Gestede would have made zero difference yesterday, it was a good bit of business to get our money back.

Whilst I agree, I do think we sold him too early in the window.

Although if it meant Agbonlahor not playing, I could live with it.

What sort of message does it send out to our younger players when that ****** gets in the team after all the shit he's delivered in the last half a decade?

The time to have moved for Rhodes was about 4 seasons ago when he was scoring goals for fun.

Now our priority is to get some creativity and steel in our midfield, and maybe go for youth up front.

I refuse to write off this season, but we need to find a shape that works quickly. The key thing is to finish the season with a strong run in.

Gestede for all his limitations has proved on numerous occasions this season that he can come on with half an hour left and cause a nuisance. We've fucked up. £6m is good money no doubt but we've made an arrogant decision thinking we can muddle through with fatty, who should have been bombed out of this club.

A dreadful one and probably why RHM wants out. I wouldn't blame him either.

We need a Tom Ince type player way more than a Jordan Rhodes.

Really? Haven't we got enough wide attacking players but are without a centre forward worthy the name?

It's worth giving Green a run.

Yup. Gestede was the sub coming on in all of our matches that we "turned around or saved"  at VP this season.

The teams that tend to go up are those that have been together for more than a season. If we want to go up next season then we need to start building from now so yes, absolutely we should be looking to buy now to bed the right players in. If its Hourihane and Lansbury then let's pursue them and get them in. Also, a forward is a must. Quite simply we do not have a centre-forward. We need a number 9 to bring the likes of McCormack, Ayew et al in.  An out and out goalscorer is preferable but I think even a Steven Fletcher would link the forward and midfield up. He would also be ideal for a Grealish looking for a runner - it would allow Ayew/McCormack/Kodjia top make that run.

Sneer all you like but he's got a point, Gestede was a threat off the bench but we let him walk practically as the new year bells were ringing. Meanwhile we lose 2 strikers to international duty and all our outfield targets are playing hardball with us. It's amateurish.

Plenty of strikers out there we could maybe attract.

Vokes, Ighalo, Hernandez, Ulloa, Long, Afobe, Crouch, Kone, Bojan... Even more ambitious Berahino, Dembele.

Vokes, Hernandez, Long, Crouch

Crouch won't be going anywhere till he's got his 100th PL goal. Can't see him dropping down a league in January anyway.

The only one of those who would possibly be attracted to leave the Premier League for the Championship is Vokes.
