I don't get ,waiting till next season for a promotion push ,the payments for the relegated teams will have improved, making it more difficult.  It is difficult to see how Dr Z is going to splash the cash again, maybe we should pick up a couple of young strong running midfielders from Div1 / Div 2, and try to slot them in now ,instead of crossing our fingers and waiting until the end of the transfer window. Surely if Lansbury can leave for nothing at the of the season, a deal could have been done by now, it's in everybody's best interests!

The impending Forest takeover is holding up any transfer for Lansbury. Steve McClaren has said that himself as Derby are interested too. As for bringing in Div1/Div2 players, I think it would be a mistake to panic and bring in just anybody.

if that were the case it's better to go for a couple of good loans if possible and keep our 'war chest' until the summer when Brucie has had the opportunity to properly scope out people who will fit the way he wants his team/ squad to play.

Whilst there is still a chance that we might sneak a play off spot and potentially go up on the momentum being gained, we should spend the money and try to go for broke.  It appears to me, the more time we spend in the Championship and the money drops, the harder it will be to compete with the teams coming down from the Premier League.  Lansbury, Hourihane and Brady please.  Striker on loan.  Throw in the Barnsley full back too.

I remember this time last year when we could've gone for broke in an attempt to stay up and spent zero. Seems this years following a similar path

What makes you say that? The club have said they're trying to bring people in.

Reported that a PL club has bid £12m for Brady.  Can we/do we want to match that?

No.  I don't think he's good enough for that money.

Schlup note Brady are worth 12million. Hourihane amd Lansbury if we are seriously going for play offsome just pay an extra million and get them in, it would be that simple. The pair would be 5 million. Bruce needs to get his finger out and get some deals in. I know it's difficult in Jan but we have the clout to get things done faster than we are.

It's already been said that the Lansbury deal is being held up by the Forest takeover, so offering another million might not make much difference.

Knowing how slow these takeovers can be, 're suitability etc it's easy to see how it might not be completed until after the deadline, leaving Lansbury a free agent I can't see how the present or future forest owners can benefit from that. Fwiw I have my doubts about Lansbury, he wouldn't be the first goalscoring Mf we've signed who fails to keep their goalscoring record going, once they step on the hallowed turf.

The Sun says we have offered to pay him £28,000 per week and have bid £1.25 million.

If they are at the final contract stage then they would not be able to buy or sell a player.
