Can we recall Gil and Veretout? Surely they'd strengthen the midfield? Veretout has had more first team experience whilst out on loan - he'd stand out this League.....

Gil would just give us another attacker who wouldn't get service from the midfield, and Veretout's attitude was apparently poor enough that even RDM deemed him as worthy of being shipped out on loan, even though from a talent standpoint I have no doubt he'd be superior to our current options.

Veretout would rather stick his cock in a mousetrap than play for us, especially at this level.

I think I read that Gil had done ligaments recently.

Talks between Norwich and Villa over a straight swap deal between Robbie Brady and Ross McCormack have broken down after Norwich demanded cash as well as Brady.  Greedy fcukers.

I'll say. McCormack, cash AND Brady!

I don't blame them. Brady is 25 and on his uppers. McCormack is not, out of shape and hasn't been in any sort of form since last season.

If we can give them a few million quid sweetener to get it done it might be better than risking having a £12m asset the wrong side of 30 sitting on the bench the next couple of years.

In the Summer we'd do well to get half of what we paid.

Brady is a decent player but nothing special.  I don't think he's worth any more than McCormack who is a proven goalscorer at this level but just not fitting into our system.  I think the weight thing is probably a myth - look at vids of him last year, doesn't seem that different to me?

I think Norwich are taking the piss as they sense our desperation.

I'll give you the weight thing, he is stocky. But he's clearly not fit - can't play 90 minutes.

I agree. But when I see all the lithe, athletic fans in the stands, I understand their reasoning.

And then watch him score a bucket load for them!!
I still don;t know how we have turned someone so clinical at this level into a pub player.  Also can he play for three teams in a season (assuming he played for Fulham before he signed)

He didn't play for Fulham, he signed a few days before the opening game.

Downing and Delph back would really improve us.

Both wankers though

I don't get this line of thought.

By and large, players that struggled at the higher level have continued to struggle at this level too, eg Westwood, Ayew, Hutton, Bacuna.

None of them are good enough it's as simple as that - better leaving them in the past and moving on.

I'm really not sure about Downing.  If he can't get in the Boro side then he must be seriously on the wane.  Delph would be fantastic though.
