I wonder if Messi has a quiet run we might be able to tempt him over to the club. He might like the project of taking a struggling side up to the top flight and single-handedly winning us the Premier League.

What? This is beginning to turn into a fantasy thread, so I'm gonna join in and set my sets a bit higher than Fabian Bang Average Delph.

Would you class McCarthy of Everton at £13 million "fantasy" as well?

The thread title suggests that fantasy is a fair topic of discussion, given that Delph has been mentioned in at least 2 newspaper articles.

I don't believe that Messi has been linked so you are just being silly and contributing nothing whatsoever to the thread.

Calm down Old Kodjia. It's only supertom's viewpoint.

It isn't a viewpoint-It is a pathetic, sarcastic dig at others who dare to discuss a "rumour" within the realms of the thread title.  It is certainly not "fantasy" to discuss a newspaper report, however unreliable that source may be.

We're all Villa fans at the end of the day and most wish to discuss Villa related topics amongst like minded people, without the distraction of them being dragged off topic by stupid, childish references to Messi etc.  There is another Villa forum where this pathetic one upmanship appears to be par for the course.  I had formed the impression that this forum was a tad more mature  and therefore free of this nonsense.

Perhaps it would make sense to start a separate thread for "fantasies" and leave this one free for the purpose that it's title suggests it was designed for?  That is of course, if it is that important to certain people.
If that's not one upmanship I don't know what is.

I'm all for discussing any rumour, but we're getting several pages in on quite obvious space filler with the Delph link.

But to move away from Snake boy and fantasies Old Chap, McCarthy? More realistic prospect than Delph, but still a non-starter. I don't see us paying 13 million on someone this window for one. And to be honest I've never seen him as anything more than a better Westwood. Granted he'd be an instant improvement on Westwood and GG but there's 4-5 clubs in the Premier League who'd probably fancy him and be more attractive propositions than ourselves. As it is, I think Lansbury would be a better signing in several ways. He'd fit in better. He'd have more impact. He'd score more, create more and offer a better balance with Jedinak. McCarthy is another player who can't run and Angela would be a fraction of the price of the 3.5 tag is to be believed.
I'm better than Westwood and so's my wife

I firmly believe we bought McCormack simply to stop someone else buying him. And ever since he arrived he's been unfit (his fault), played out of position (not his fault) overweight (his fault), injured (probably because he's unfit/a tub of lard) and disinterested (his fault). I don't see, therefore, why letting him  go now, if we could get anything like a decent fee, would be detrimental to the team as a whole.

I firmly believe we bought McCormack to score goals, but I also believe the transaction made him believe he'd reached his zenith as a footballer, and as such he no longer needed to try quite as hard. He's allowed himself to become fat and unfit and he barely looks arsed. My prediction is, having got his last big payday, he'll go on do very little in a Villa shirt before getting shifted on for a couple of million at most. Prove me wrong, fatty.

The only problem of swapping Brady for Ross is Brady is probably the ideal type of player to get the best out of him

McCormack is a major disappointment.  Has he had anything like a decent game yet? I can take him doing fuck all and popping up with the goal or goals to win us games like he did against Burton but when he's not doing that he offers little.

On the one hand, I quite like McCormack and think with the right midfield and a run in the team he would start to look like the player I was so pleased we were signing.

On the other hand, if we are not going to play a system that suits and we can get a player that will fit the system Bruce wants to play, then great.

Only niggling worry is that he might do rather well at Norwich, wouldn't like it very much if he scored against us in the playoffs.

He might well do but the brace from Robbie Brady will see us promoted (wink).

Barnsley right back James Bree linked with a £4m move to us. I bet that would really cheese Hutton off.

Would be a gouda replacement though.

We haven't taken him on loan, well not as yet anyway.
