We have been linked with McCarthy at Everton today for £13m, probably nonsense but I think it would be good signing (far better than Cleverly anyway if we take someone from Everton). Not sure if he played under Bruce at Wigan or if he joined after Bruce left.

I heard that it was Villa that forced Delph to make the move to Man City (my Uncle works for a City player and gets to meet a fair few of their squad). So not sure he is as much of snake as most think, I would like to see him come back and think he would do well.

Its looking like we will be getting at least two in midfield anyway. Lansbury and one more, and we seem to be being linked with pretty decent quality (Delph, Cleverly, McCarthy) so happy with that.
If that's true about Delph it should be made public knowledge because it's a game changer. Absolutely the kind of player we need and i'd welcome him back in a heartbeat. I suspect that he will have offers from premier league clubs so it's a long shot.

Pelligrini pretty much confirmed it was us that took the cash and forced the move.

if so Delph should have been explicit about it, given the tsunami of abuse he has been subjected - me included.

The more you look at the Delph debacle the more you think you see him being set up to take the flak.

Well he would say that, wouldn't he.

I remember Delph's statement about after he left, it was not one of a man who had been forced to leave. I could just about believe we might have looked to cash in if the fee had been £20m but £8m for an England regular at the time was peanuts. It was clearly in Man City's interests to put a positive spin on things but i just don't buy it.

Delph being forced out has got to be complete bull. He would have certainly piped up about it, or at least hinted.

Anyhoo....we move on, any realistic rumors today? I see Hogan is being linked to west ham, I like him a lot.

At Villa, Delph was playing and really improving which got him into the England squad. At City, he rarely plays and has faded from the international scene, but is a lot richer. He needs to play week in week out to be recognised again.

But that's not true. If a club accepts an offer for a player then that player isn't going to want to stay is he? And let's not forget the abject state that the club was in off the field. The club had allowed the ridiculously low buy out clause in his contract in the first place. All im saying is if he is not the villain of the piece as has been portrayed we should know as it would make all the difference.

On the other hand, he should never have come out and said he was happy to stay when he was quite clearly interested in another club.

The thing is I didn't blame Delph for wanting to go to Citeh. Yes he's ended up out of the side, but I imagine he had the belief he could make it there. It was fair enough for him to want to take that chance. It's the way he went about it that was the problem. But frankly I'm over it now, so if he ever came back I'd support him.

Aye, now that there was a report linking us to him...what actually happened is now all wrong, really?

A couple of carefully worded hints from Delph after leaving could have got the press and fans off his back. Don't forget he was lambasted by fans and press alike . He wasn't forced out, although FairPlay for him signing a contract to at least get us a couple of quid.

What's this forced him out by accepting an offer shit? He had a release clause that was met.

Also, if we were so keen to chuck him out, why did we include him in our kit promos, and change our social media to lionise him in that week right after the first refusal and before the backflip? Also, why would he agree to make that statement about how much he valued loyalty if he was allegedly being told to do one? He could've just turned around and gone back to accept City's offer instead.

It's a massive crockload of shit made up by City as a PR exercise to distort the fact that Delphi is a little shitcunt who couldn't be straight with us.

He was going to a club that probably tripled his wages and gave him massively greater chances of winning silverware, but we had to force him to go there?  Yeah, I can believe that.
