All this creative midfielder nonsense, we have too many. We need legs in midfield.

I want a midfielder who has the ability to time his runs into the box and attacks the goal. For 5 minutes Sherwood had the midfield really contributing and we need that again. Everton at home comes to mind immediately. We haven't had a good one in a while. Give me that and DM to give Jedinak a break and I'll be happy. Oh that and a reliable CB.

Yeah, a centreback for me as well. Elphick isn't the player we thought we'd signed.

I agree, we need someone who can do the defensive work and get the ball forward accurately so the likes of Ayew and Grealish are doing their work in the final third rather than the middle of the pitch.

Matt Maher from the E and S says one deal is already verbally agreed for January and they are hoping to tie up another one in principle today.

I'm concerned that we appear to be preparing deals before the window opens. Isn't there some sort of law that prevents us from doing so?

No, we just can't actually register any new players until the window opens. Nothing to stop clubs lining up deals.

We basically need a David Platt type and and Ian Taylor type. Even if they're only half as good as Taylor and a quarter as good as Platt they would be a big improvement on Gardner and Westwood and would probably get us promoted.

You can approach a club any time and if they are happy to, you can make a deal etc. The player just can't join us until the window opens. The problem is more for the selling club, why would they want a first teamer playing the rest of the month when he knows he'll be joining another club as soon as the window opens?

This. Sort them out and it makes the job of our creative players, Adomah, Grealish and Ayew, easier too. We've just got no presence or movement in midfield. Jedinak does his job well but needs legs beside him.

Bless you all for correcting me, but mine was a tongue-in-cheek dig at our previous attempts at using the January transfer window.

I've mentioned him on here before, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Bruce go for David Meyler.  Can get around, get his foot in and is decent on the ball.  Not been playing for Hull, but has been in the Ireland side that has got some good results recently.
