Am 100% sure the likes of Stourport's midfield are more combative.

The kind of signing I can see Bruce making.  A lot of water has passed under the bridge since that sorry NOTW article about dream moves etc.  I'd welcome it.

Still appears to be a top professional and very competitive.

It might be somewhat apposite for him to return to Villa Park, firm-up our midfield and go on to break the Premier League appearances record back in the Claret & Blue.

If there's half-a-chance of this then it gets my vote.

He's playing week-in week-out for Everton and getting very highly paid for it. Why on earth would he choose to leave that for a mid-table battle with Aston Villa? Not a chance.

From the horses mouth. My son ran into him at a club earlier this year and pleaded with him to return to Villa. His answer ......"No chance".

Mind you if he does my lad is now ready to claim full credit.

While having lunch at the greasy spoon near work today I cast an eye over the Daily Star's football coverage. Amidst the usual baloney was a paragraph linking us with Hull goalie Alan McGregor.

A creative midfielder is paramount as far as I'm concerned.  Please let it happen.

Undoubtedly. We need to pile some points on this month as the quality of player we'll be able to attract will be greatly improved by us being up thereabouts.
It's a position that needs addressing to the exclusion of all others. Get the right man, and that'll do me*.

*well, maybe a centre-half, too.
And a right-back in on loan.
And a proper number 9.

There's less than zero chance of Barry coming back to VP this January, more chance of Barry Bannan.

We have  some  decent players but my concern is the spine of the team.  The italian, Elphick, Westwood (to a certain extent) and lack of a decent Andy Gray is worrying.

Gollini is sorry just not good enough, put whatever spin you want on him.

Elphick, seen better in Sunday football.

Westwood, he needs  a Delph, Cleverley or Barry beside him.

Never mind who's beside him, Westwood needs a boot out the door. Nothing more nothing less.

I want a midfielder who has the ability to time his runs into the box and attacks the goal. For 5 minutes Sherwood had the midfield really contributing and we need that again. Everton at home comes to mind immediately. We haven't had a good one in a while. Give me that and DM to give Jedinak a break and I'll be happy. Oh that and a reliable CB.
