As much as he is a ******, I would take Barton in a heartbeat.

I don't even think he's that much of a C-word. He's done a lot to improve himself as a person (from a low base) and I admire that.

We seemed to have finally built a decent team spirit so the last thing we need is a Jonny big spuds like Barton.

He was a key player for the team that won this league last year, and we're not only exactly spoiled for choice in his position.

He could be 47 and he'd still be a better player than Westwood.

Being better than Westwood doesn't rule out many midfielders with two functioning legs though.

I'd be pretty sure of myself to say he would be the best player available for fuck all between now and the summer.
I'd take him, we'd still have room to bring in another in Jan.

Sorry, but the thought of Joey Barton pulling on a Villa shirt just turns my stomach.

He has barely played recently - in the few games he did play early in the season he was awful according to the papers (in the Scottish Premier) and is currently signed off for stress.  By the time he would be up to speed, the transfer window would be open again.

In the last four years (leaving aside the early days of his career), he has been punished for headbutting someone, a deliberate elbow (headbutting and kicking two others on the way off), describing someone as an 'overweight ladyboy', going over the top in a dressing room argument and now under investigation for betting irregularities.

Of the six clubs he has played for in his career, five of them have ended up disciplining him and getting rid.

A player not-match fit and signed off for stress, with a track record including recently of pissing off his teammates, with a possible impending punishment for gambling irregularities. Not for me thanks.

Apart from that, I think he's great.

Regardless of how shit we are on the pitch, we as a club will always be above having the likes of Joey Barton playing for us. A future sha player if ever there was one.

I'm sure he won't be short of suitors, particularly outside of a transfer window but I hope we're not one of them.

Barton, if he could do the job he did for Burnley in the Championship then great, but unfortunately like Jedinak I think that father time has caught up with him and he wont have the stamina / pace to get around the pitch

So as Simon would say "it is a NO from me"
