Or slot Hutton and de Laet into midfield, and sign three right backs.

If Bacuna drops back to right back would we need 3 midfielders?

So maybe 3 midfielders and no right back? Hmmmmmmmm

No, I'd go a right back and 2 midfielders I think...

if we played a 4-1-5 formation am I wrong in saying that we would only need one midfielder
And two full backs

I haven't read the last few pages, any interesting links?

I hope so, because by my reckoning we're at least one midfielder, a right back, and probably another midfielder short of what we need.

To be slightly different I'd also accept a left winger a midfielder and a right back because I think we're playing a 442/4411 anyway so lets at least get a proper winger in for the left side. It would also let us have someone bridge the vast gap between midfield and attack (a number 10 as I like to call them) and I think RM and Grealish can fight it out for that spot and let Kodjia and Ayew can compete at 9.  Adomah on the right, newbie on the left with Green and Bacuna as backup options is fine and I'd trust 1 of Tish or Jedinak to do a job alongside the new centre mid and I think Westwood and Gardner can offer cover there until the summer when we should move them on.

I'm not sure what's best for RB because with delaet to come back we need to be careful not to create too much competition there, that's why I think Jenkinson is a good idea if there's a chance.

I'd just like a right back and 2 midfielders.
For the Villa, obv. I have enough staff.

Really underwhelmed so far. The forward line 'strength' at present is very weak. Can't believe that we released Gestede without a replacement ready to join immediately, especially with Kodjia and Ayew away on ACON duty. Why couldn't we arrange a swop with Borough for Rhodes plus cash?? This is going to bite us badly if we don't sign a striker soon.

A winger would be an interesting option as we could play 442. Sakho is available at Palace.

Midfield is more of a concern to me, whoever is playing up front isn't going to get many chances when we don't have a decent midfielder to supply a forward.

Agree on the Midfield weakness as well. How many years has the Midfield been a problem? Successive Managers have failed to address a fundamental problem and continue to pick Westwood!!

Last dozen years, off the top of my head, I'd say Milner is the only purchase that instantly improved our midfield.

Which is a bit shit. And explains a lot.

We could do with two in your face irritating athletes in midfield to play either side of jedinak, they don't have to be particuarlly good at passing or tackling, just have high stamina and be able to get up and down, our midfield is so static and slow right now.
