Apart from the pen I don't think Aly did much wrong. I was disappointed how slow all our players were for their penalty rebound, 3 or 4 of the Reading players were there before any of ours. A minor thing as we won but I hope Bruce gives them a bit of a kick for that to make sure they aren't caught napping again.

It's amazing what a win can do,suddenly feel interested in football again! Spoke about the Villa at work today for the first time in ages, even braved a look at the league table,we'll be in the play offs before we know it! Bring on Fulham!

I've been the same, can only imagine this must have been what VE Day felt like.

I was able to give a few students the 'shush now'' finger on my lips today. It has been a long time... Cheers Villa!

To be fair, I think one or two of the Reading players were in the box before the penalty was kicked

I actually thought Bacuna was our man of the match.  He was the most energetic player on the pitch playing a forward central midfield role - almost Milner like

To be fair to him I thought both penalties were a bit soft.

It is exactly what VE Day felt like Lee.  An overwhelming sense of relief and everybody asking each other either in words or actions How the hell did we live through that?  I now can't wait for good old PWS to post a statistic to the effect "are you aware that we have won more games in.......weeks than we did in the previous........years?"

Let's hope they play Don't Look Back In Anger on Saturday after we've beat Fulham 4-0 with a McCormack hat trick.

Midfield - Midfield three worked much better, Jedinak looks half decent in that formation and it seems he grew in confidence second half. I quite like Bacuna, and think he is better in midfield than at right back. All our better performances this season have been with Gardner in the team, he is better than most here give him credit for, and much better than Westwood.

Defence - Gollini seems to be findong his feet, and is looking a decent prospect now. Pleased to see Hutton do well as he always puts in a shift. Baker looks a better option than Elphick and should keep his place.

Attack - Bruce has seen what everyone else has - you can't play all our strikers at once. I think he will chop and change according to the opposition, and will always have quality on the bench to change things or add fresh legs. Kodjia, Ayew and McCormack all did well. Adomah is finding his feet now too.

Manager - I like him, he is lucky. Used his bench well, and out thought Stam.

It was Oasis at full time and Neil Diamond at the start of the second half.

Site went down at the equaliser didn't it?

That's when I tried to pop in to read the anger!

Anyway, the winner won me £77 from a £1 5-team accumulator.

Well worth waiting for. Thank you.

First away win since man stepped on the moon and the site goes down.  How low have we sunk.  Seriously, very pleased with the win and very pleased for the fans that made the trip again.

As I said at the weekend, it is not always the best players that make the best team.

As commented by somebody else, the reason why we looked flat-footed when they scored was because their players moved into the penalty area before their player took the penalty, especially the one that actually scored.
