Very pleased with last night.

Good to see us line up 433.

I thought we contained them with ease first half. Looked solid and denied them room. They created nothing.

Incidentally it was Bacuna, who played well centrally, pressing on his own that created the space for them to find McLeary for their penalty.

We were not incisive, but we did have the better chances and largely restricted them to long diagonals once all the midfield pressed.

Gardner drifted in and out the game, I was advocating bringing Tshibola on for more legs, but he came into it the last ten minutes. Jedinak was better second half and the subs made telling contributions.

Just brilliant to get an away win. My voice is horse from the shouting.

We were functional and organised. Perfect for formula for an away game. If we can just build on the result then the confidence with our quality should hopefully start to tell.

Yes, thank you Martin.  My son and I agreed that communication via H and V is essential for a game like that to sink in. That level of release has to be shared.

I didn't absorb the result truly until I got into work (with a swagger) and the first person said "good win at last!" - then it was REAL!

I walked in and said to the first person I saw (another Villa fan) "good morning on this glorious day".

Almost forgotten how it feels to actually win a game.

Slightly worried that we can only beat teams beginning with R

He doesn't really make any reference to RDM in that interview.

First match for some 3 years (no excuse not go when it's down the road).  Observations were that although some of our individuals are not quite up to scratch if you play as a team then you can overcome your weak links.  Always difficult to tell from the telly or highlights and having not. Even for 3 years I have no reference point, but I saw a team and I saw them seeing out a plan.  The staggering thing is it we not rocket science!

I watched Brucey closely and he was calm, collected, in control, whilst simultaneously barking out orders.  After numerous attempts I think we have got a manager at last.  The joy at the end was to behold,  it just from our incredible fans,
But from the players too.  They actually looked they enjoyed it!  And all this in less than a week

Long may it continue

Great stuff, but one thing is playing on my mind.

"What did you think of Gary Gardner and Nathan Baker, Steve?"

"I thought  they were excellent."

Nooooooooooo!

It was Hutton that surprised me. He played excellent.

It goes without saying about how good a win is etc ?

Cissokho is becoming a bloody liability though isn't he?
Becoming?
He's been a nightmare throughout: his positioning is abysmal.

I went last night.

Bruce had got us set up extremely rigid and solid in the first half.I reckon we've spent the last 2/3 training sessions working on this..We tracked across in a system that left very little room for them to thread the ball through as they'd done on the highlights I've seen.Leaving them constantly trying to switch it long which suited Cisshoko and Hutton.Good..A structure.Whilst they had plenty of the round thing,it didn't seem threatening. We huffed at times, and were guilty of panicky clearances.

Plenty of positives in the second..Although our usual Benny Hill moment arrived and we conceded, for the first time in ages, adversity seemed to inspire more effort. From then on,we closed down more aggressively upfield and looked as though we were effective on the counter.

We'd made our way onto the concourse, hoping to beat the rush ,when Ayew tantalised and teased..Cue utter pandemonium and the kind of scenes nobody imagined we'd witness at Reading away in the championship..

Thought Bacuna made an effective difference...Gardner had glimpses..whisper it but Jedinak was more solid amd aggressive..still with the odd rick...Hutton and Cisshoko were utterly shanking with the ball..Chester read and marshalled very well..Kodija always a threat..Cannot see what the Giraffe brings to the party..

Hats off to Reading, excellent prices...Villa footage at Half time in the bars etc...Barstaff wearing B6 Birmingham t-shirts.Hats off to us too..Loud and proud..They need the"fickle" (My chats) fanbase to pull them through..And we've tried,

Took my son, who's last away was Sunderland when we ran riot...He's still watching the endless Twitter footage.

Absolutely legged it at fulltime, to get back to the car to beat the rush.

All the time, contemplating how the HandV post match would explode in orgasmic love...

Cissokho is like Richards, athletic, powerful, all the attributes of a modern footballer, apart from the being able to play football bit.

Those who were there, did Amavi do enough to start next game? Or more importantly, did he not do enough wrongness to not start the next game? Well, we are discussing Villa fullbacks after all.

It's amazing what a win can do,suddenly feel interested in football again! Spoke about the Villa at work today for the first time in ages, even braved a look at the league table,we'll be in the play offs before we know it! Bring on Fulham!
