Me too. I appreciate he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he had a really seriously injury that changed the trajectory of his career. I said earlier in the thread that maybe he just can't do what he once could and it frustrates him as an athlete. And that season he was simply incredible at times. Another player could literally score any type of goal. Good in the air, quick, turned defenders inside out, left foot or right foot. He was superb to watch. Of course he had his faults. Didn't always make the best decisions, greedy/selfish (as many forwards are), or just plain poor when he should have been better. But at his best he was very good indeed and I'll remember him for the player he was pre-injury.

It is a shame, the way this has panned out as he could have been a great player for us, but dealing in the here and now, he's a busted flush and we are desperate for better quality, better decision making players.  If he goes, I will follow his career as he was exciting once and I'b be interested to know how he's doing.

Agree with all this. He's nowhere near the worst player in the squad either. He's maybe lost a bit of what he had prior to the injury and a move back to the championship and a fresh start may do him good. A cracking player on his day, I hope he gets back to how he was.

Agree with alll the foregoing praise for him pre injury.  He should be a beacon of an example to both clubs and players who think they can play through serious injury for the honour of playing for their country.  I wish him well.  There cannot be many retiring players with an accountancy degree from the Sorbonne so we can expect to see him in a manager's dug out eventually.

I agree with the posts above. I think if he'd not got that injury he'd have been effective in the premier league but he's lost half a yard of pace and it's affected him badly. I also think that, as TV says, he cuts a pretty dejected figure because he's trying to do what he was 3 years ago and finding that it just isn't working for him. It's not greatly different to when Bent came back under Lambert and looked like a shadow of the player he'd been before his injury. We've been pretty unlucky with getting strikers who get nasty injuries fairly early in their career with us and never really recover, Kozak was another and I do wonder if Hogan might have been better if he hadn't got injured a few weeks after he joined, he wasn't out for too long but it meant he never really got to carry his Brentford form over to us.

He could be great on his day before the injury. And who could forget how he 'dabbed' Chris Brunt

He was good for us for a while, I have no ill feeling towards him.

Although that 'play your thigh like a guitar' thing is the worst goal celebration ever.

Nah, that was Roger Milla and the corner flag celebration.

He’ll go with my best wishes. He was amazing for us for a spell, a proper talisman match winner, however that ankle injury really took its toll.

Thanks Jimmy, and good luck.

What about the Pole from Milan we've just been linked with? That Pistolero celebrate is so naff it's cool.

he had a good 4-6 month spell.

He's better off leaving, Smith won't play him.

Yes, I agree.

I know he had injury problems, but Smith made a point of not playing him.

He's been criticised for his attitude recently, but he was very good and entertaining for us before injury.

It's quite possible he got fed up of not being picked as Wesley always played regardless of form. Players need to maintain a good attitude, recognising that they are in a privileged position, but I can't help feeling the man management hasn't been good here either.
