In a weak side he looked confident and direct, don't imagine he'll go hiding.

Happy with this, we needed pace and movement up front to open up the space for the 3 in behind. Grealish has started the season very well and mccormack has been involved without actually improving us so far because, as I said when he signed, he wasn't the type of striker we were desperately needing.

He might bring the best out of McCormack if unlike Ayew at present who can't/won't lift his head.

Would love some of this...

Great enthusiasm. I think he'll be a great signing. Will do well with McCormack.

Just need to get him near the six yard box, something that we've not had for a while

So we have three players who have scored over 20 goals in a Championship season plus Jordan Ayew who is capable of it.

We desperately need a winger to provide them with the chances.

I agree we could do with a winger

But we've been creating bucket loads of chances without one. So I'm not overly worried.

Just had this from a Bristol City fan I saw on Thursday last week;

"We were like rabbits caught in the head lights first half and Villa looked a decent side. They fell apart 2nd half and soon as one went in, you knew we would score again.

The spine is there for you boys although you need a goalie. I can’t believe you have paid £15m for Kodjia though. He will frustrate the hell out of you as whilst a good player for us, he misses loads, has no left foot and caught offside a lot. Bags of potential but you need players who are polished now not in a couple of seasons time."

The flip side of that is that as an undoubtedly unpolished player, he still managed 19 goals in a weak side in his first season in England. With the right coaching and development, that suggests a decent player in there.

Three of our front men, Ayew, Gestede and Kadjia  are French speakers.  Can only help.  Ross could do a lot worse than brush up on his language skills.

He certainly looks strong, fast, mobile and a good finisher on You Tube. Let's hope he's a hero in the making.

If the other three want to speak French but Ross says they're going to speak Glaswegian, then I suspect they'll be speaking Glaswegian  ;D
