Welcome Jonathan Kodjia. No one can complain about Doctor Tony, he has put his money where his mouth is and spent the cash during the close season. It's up to the players now to perform on the pitch and the fans to give the support to get us out of this division

Happy with this signing - I now wait to see which world class striker will be signing for us tomorrow!

Must admit I'd never heard of him until now but a bit more firepower will never go amiss. Preferable to spending £20m on Hernandez anyway.

Anyone think we'll be spending any more in this window or is that our lot? Can't fault Xia either way. He's held up his end of the bargain.

We need pace and he seems to have bags of that. Hopefully he justifies the fee and I still hope there's a couple more to come. We need a winger and centre half cover.

Another central midfielder wouldn't go a miss though watching that OS video of Mr & Mrs, Lyden seems to be teacher's pet so hopefully he'll get his chance. Having a fellow Aussie alongside him as his mentor could be a masterstroke.

Happy with the signing as had is exactly the type of forward we needed.  With Okore gone, CB cover is a must, unless RDM still sees Richards as an option (hope not).  I still think we need another central midfielder and a wide player on top of that.  Could maybe see a couple of loans come in?

Looks really skillful too.

Know nothing about this guy, and I know YT clips can make even the worst players look good, but he looks more impressive than I thought

Bristol City fans on twitter are taking the piss saying they have raped us on the fee.  I find this a bit small time as well as the decision by them to publicise the fee.  They don't actually get what big transfers are about really, £11m really isn't a lot by today's standards.

They're a very smalltime club really, harmless enough. They won't sell many players for this kind of amount so their eyes are spinning in their heads. Steve Lansdown will probably pocket it anyway.

I've said before that we needed to focus more on midfield now, but still he's a good age and had a good record in the Championship last season.  If he improves on what we've got and adds a bit of pace then it should be a good buy.

He clearly is the type we need - whether he's good enough is another point. We'll see.

I do think he might rival ayew in the greediness stakes.

Just had this from a Bristol City fan I saw on Thursday last week;

"We were like rabbits caught in the head lights first half and Villa looked a decent side. They fell apart 2nd half and soon as one went in, you knew we would score again.

The spine is there for you boys although you need a goalie. I can’t believe you have paid £15m for Kodjia though. He will frustrate the hell out of you as whilst a good player for us, he misses loads, has no left foot and caught offside a lot. Bags of potential but you need players who are polished now not in a couple of seasons time."

All forwards miss lots of chances it's how many they score that's important.

At the risks of over generalising, the Bristol city fans I know down here (including my mate who I quoted earlier) never strike me as the most knowledgeable on matters of football. Also we've just swiped their most saleable player as a backup option. I'll take their comments with a pinch of salt.
