Didn't look interested? He set one up in his last full game and scored 2/3 goals in his previous appearance.

His goals were against Liverpool under 15s.

More or less the same team that knocked Everton out of the cup.

Only 2 of the starting 11 against us also started against Everton. And none of the 3 subs against Everton played against us.

Well, it was a bunch of kids. May have not been the same kids. As Vassilev will only ever have scored against kids, I'm not sure why people seem sure he would have been a better option.

Noone is suggesting Kodjia, who has never been as good since his latest injury, was the long-term solution. He is a better option than anyone else we have at present, and shouldn't have been sold until one, or preferably two, forwards were signed. The Qatar transfer deadline is the end of January, same as ours.

it just shows you what nonsense people will swallow in order to keep believing what they want

He’s been a liability repeatedly losing the ball and putting us under pressure, only half heartedly trying to join up with other players and shooting from ridiculous positions. We’re better off without him regardless of any replacement.

Apart from the two most recent matches which you have chosen to ignore because of some Wolvesesque reasoning that they shouldn't count. Presumably the goal was a different size when we played Liverpool.

We are clearly not better off with no forward than we are with Kodjia. Absolute nonsense.

Would we have won on Saturday with Kodjia in the side?

No idea, maybe. We would have a better chance of winning tomorrow if he was in the side than a young kid and or someone out of position.

On the one hand you are saying that you do not know whether he would have improved the chance of winning in one match and then in another match he would give us a better chance.

Puns aside I don't get how you can suggest he wouldn't be a viable option given the situation we're in. People are suggesting starting Vassilev - an 18-year-old midfielder with no starts under his belt - up front by himself. That's how bad things are. Even a disinterested Kodjia was clearly the best option available to us for tomorrow's game. But nah, we've sold him. More old rope off the books and a few quid in the bank, great.

He wasn't a viable option because, for whatever reason Smith didn't see him as one, hence the last few games he was on the books but didn't play. Another manager might have played him, if he wasn't ill he might have played but neither of those things is relevant because what has actually happened since new years day is he hasn't been a viable option and there's nothing to suggest that delaying the transfer by a week would've changed that.

Possibly. He clearly wasn't ill.

On what basis? There seems to be a lot of speculation passed off as fact in this thread. Doesn't seem that unlikely that someone could be ill in January. Half my office have been off in the last couple of months.

I like Kodjia and don't actually blame him...if that's how it played out.

It was interesting timing though and if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

his cameo against Burnley was the end for me. Useless. Rather have a youngster in the team who will at least give his all

Well, it was a bunch of kids. May have not been the same kids.

Their line up against Everton was a lot stronger than what we faced. That's not to say it was anything like their strongest team which made them beating Everton amusing, but it wasn't a team full of 18 year olds either.

Thanks kodjia for the service (when you could be bothered) never the same player after the injury.

Best of luck
